Have a wonderful holiday Ali, you deserve a nice break! I shall miss your blogging but look forward to a nice update on what you got up to when you are back. Paul and Sue Morley-Smith stayed last week and have been introduced to your blog! We chatted about you over dinner and how brave, positive and inspirational you are - and you truly are that. It has been a privilege to share your journey this far and whatever you decide to do, it would be an honour if you would let us accompany you through the next stage. I still believe you can beat this. But anyway, now it is time for a good rest and a taste of sunshine and warmth (I hope! It is chucking down with snow outside!).
Lots of love

Hiya Ali

Have a great trip - it is dumping with snow here down to about 900m apperently so you should be ok in Annecy (i think???!!), but the mountains will look great WHEN the sun comes out!

offer of a massage on the house still stands.

Have fun

Hi Ali – just a line to say we’re backing you to win, but how frustrated we feel at the latest setback… You continue to be an inspiration, and we (and the rest of the blog-community) will be queuing up to “hold your jacket” if you decide to beat up your visitor with the big chemo-stick.

We’ve a family friend in full remission following chemo; tough fight but they came out on top.

Watching their journey, like yours, I was put in mind of the infamous hard-man John McVicar when cornered and outnumbered – “I may not win, but I’ll be the best *@~#% second you’ve ever seen”. It worked for them.

There’s clearly huge support for you whatever you decide works for you and your family next - a trip to Annecy and a holiday in Provence sounds like a great start!

We're all behind you, stay positive, a bientot

To Ali, Jeanette and your families,

I've been surfing.... And the Chateau du Berne looks like a fabulous place to take time out and regain your thoughts.

We hope you all enjoy your time in Annecy and Provence.

Take courage and remain strong.

Have a lovely time Ali, we are all just back from a break in Normandy. We had a great time rockpooling (well, pulling small children out of rock pools when they leaned in too far to see the fish). I introduced Phoebe to my favourite beach joke 'why is the sea wet ? because the sea weed' !! she liked it.

Sending happy thoughts

Dear Ali,

Brenda and I are friends of your Mum and Dad and have been following your blogs every day and praying for a good outcome. Although the latest results are not good we know that your Mum and Dad will move heaven and earth to find some way to beat the beast – that’s what a parents love is for because a son is such a special person.

We hope you have a great time back in Annecy and that you get your batteries recharged so you can carry on with the battle that you have been so courageously fighting over the past few months. We know that your Mum and Dad take great strength from your approach to life so go out there and show them how to you can win through.

We look forward to your next blog to see the results of the fantastic time you are going to have on your holiday. Please receive our love and pass some on to Mum and Dad for us.

Stuart and Brenda in La Napoule

Hi Ali,

Great to hear that you are coming back over this way, maybe by the time you get here it might be spring time and sunny!!!! We have just been up in Avoriaz skiing fresh powder in a complete whiteout, mad since it is mid April!
It is Mo's birthday today and I finally got him a remote control helicopter, so you can just imagine what he is up to at the moment?
He has discovered that he has only got 20min of playing at a time, so is going to get some spare bateries to get some more play time. Obviously he has only managed to get it a few inches off the ground so far but at least he hasen't broken it yet!!!!

We would love to get down to see you at some point and I will make sure that Mo brings the helicopter as I am sure that you both could have some fun with it (airplane, trees, rivers and acrobats ring any bells???)

I hope that you enjoy your journey out and time at the Chateau.
We will be in touch.

Lots of Love
Sally and Mo x

Hey Ali
I haven't added to your blog for a while, but have been reading it regularly. I was gutted to hear that the news we'd all been waiting for wasn't what we had hoped for.

Although I feel like I know you well, I am not lucky enough to have had as much contact with you as many of the other people who blog you regularly. But still fortunate to have met you once and once met, never forgotten!

Now, as I am not blessed to be able to write with any real flair, I have borrowed some words that I found when I was shopping yesterday which made me think of you as soon as I read them.

'You deserve to know that.....
It takes someone special to do what you do.
It takes someone rare and remarkable to make the lives of everyone around them nicer, brighter, and more beautiful. It takes someone who has a big heart and a caring soul. It takes someone who's living proof of how precious a person can be.
It takes someone...just like you.'

Have a wonderful trip, Ali and I send you and your family lots of love. Thinking about you every day, and still thinking shrink.

(BASI)

P.S. Some news from the BASI Office, the admin team and I are getting to go out to Zermatt next week for an educational trip. Woo hoo! The itinerary includes lots of skiing and socialising with trainers and members...its a dirty job but someone's got to do it! Mark bishop says we need to do something outrageous while we're there, so am working on a couple of ideas! This is all intended to show us how hard the Training department staff allegedly work when they're all out of the office....we'll see!

Hi Ali
Being computer illiterate this is the first time I have managed to write to you. You are in our thoughts often I hope you know that. On a less serious note I tried to get your blog up last night on german google and opened the most explicit porn site you can imagine. Would have been fine but I was sitting in the lounge of the Derby in Zermatt surrounded by Dave M
Paul G Giles etc who thought it really funny so Alis blog means something else in German lots of love Izzy Milne

Dearest Ali

This is my second blog today, my first one crashed with our server so here I am again.

As always your sunny disposition shines out of your blog again today. You are truly an inspiration to us all. Your mum, dad, Jeanette and all your family and hundreds of friends around the world are giving you so much support but you deserve it all and more. We feel so helpless and wish we could do more for you but hope that in some small way our constant thoughts and praying for you will provide you with some support on your difficult journey.

We will be seeing some of the guys from NewGen next week in Val D'Isere as we are there with the Daily Mail. It is such a pity that we wont be able to meet up with you as before but do hope that when you get back to the UK we can pop over. Stewart has tried several times to get in touch and we have too but we know how much you have on your plate at this moment and do totally understand but perhaps after you have recharged the batteries out in France, we can arrange to see you.

Have a wonderful time in Annecy and Provence, both extremely beautiful parts of France and we shall have a ski in the beautiful mountains for you. We shall be thinking of you constantly and will be on a mission to seek out an internet cafe to check your blog whilst we are in Val d'Isere.

All our love as always to you all
The Conways,
Chris, David, Stewart,Jo, Freya, Sarah and Daniel xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hey Ali,

I've never blogged before but I guess there is a first time for everything. It was incredibly sad to hear the latest news about your condition but amazing to read through your blog and see so much strength and positivity (not sure if that is really a word but it works!). Enjoy your time in Annecy, you are an amazing person and an inspiration to us all.

Stay strong.

Love Jaz, Louise and Charlotte.

Ali - I've been reading your blog nearly every night and thinking SHRINK along with all your many, wonderful family and friends but as yet haven't "commented" (as I actually hadn't worked out how to until tonight!). Ali - all I can do is echo what everyone else has said - it's difficult to find original words to say - but we all, I know, think the same - you're so positive, you have so much love from your family and friends, you can do this. Enjoy your break away with the family. Our love to you all - Sally, Gemma, Ben and Beth xxxx

Hi Ali

Just got back brom Lauterbrunnen instructing for Oak Hall, so first time I've read the blog for a few weeks. Despite having only met you briefly on our BASI course, I have been really upset by this tumour's attack on you, and my heart goes out to you, Jet, family and friends. I am so moved by your situation that as Christians, myself, Helen and many others have been praying that God would heal you and deal with this wretched tumour once and for all. I believe that God can heal you and restore you fully back to health-after all why did God create the mountains in the first place?! I know it can't be easy and maybe you are wondering if there is a God, why do bad things happen to good people? The truth is we live in a fallen world which means none of us are immune from bad stuff. However the good news is that God can fix the bad stuff, we just have to ask Him and believe it.I urge to you to cry out to God -He wants to touch base and do something amazing for you.Your dad on earth would, and so would your Dad in Heaven! God confirms that He heals- read Isaiah 53 verse 5, and know that many, many people all over the world can testify that they have been healed by God in a super natural way. We will continue to pray for you, and would love to come and see you when you are back in the UK.
For anyone else reading this comment I ask that when you have a moment, and if not make one, would you talk to your Papa in Heaven and tell Him you long to see Ali healed. God will be pleased to hear from you.
Ali we will continue to pray for you, as I believe God has a purpose for your life, and there is oh so much more skiing to be done, amongst other things!

Lots of love to you Ali and all those close to you (of which there are many!)

Jonathan and Helen (and bump-a little one is on the way!)

hey Ali,

i just have few moments so here i am.
i doubt to be able to make it to Lorgues next week but i ll catch up with you soon anyway.
we are planning a trip to New York and we are very excited too.
i actually better NOT come down to Lorgues at the same time as you because i attract bad weather.
everytime i ve been down there to see my mum, it s been rainning or windy so i don t really want to ruin your holidays.
i don t want to be responsible.
we will find out another way to see each other i m sure.
you look as positive as usual, which is important for the mood.
i hope these few days in Provence will bring you some peaceful and great time.
your mum, dad and you deserve it.
don't abuse about their wines, it s one of the best in this area...
my mum knows you are coming, and she will be very pleased to welcome you in her modest but great " table du moulin" restaurant in Lorgues as i said to you already.
she has the new "spring" menu and it looks delicious to me.
i m actually looking forward to go and see her.
take care Ali and receive all Martin and my love to share with Jeanette and your parents.
a tres bientot
