Bonjour Everyone!
We've had a great weekend! Been for several pushes round the lake, had coffee and ice creams and driven to our favourite places. I love it here and Annecy is wonderful in the spring.
I started on Prof Pilkington's pill regime (Clomipramine) on Friday and feel ok. I'm still very dizzy but don't feel as tired which is good but I'm hungry all the time and I'm eating like a horse! Hey Ho!!
Simon's coming tomorrow night until Thursday and I can't wait to see him.
Love
Ali

I'm first! How exciting.
Catching up on the blog having been offline for a week, getting wet in Austria while being a skinny-tyred racing-snake roadie. Good to read that you are taking some positive steps towards taking control. Deciding to be involved is often a great medicine on it's own.
Good things about today, reading positive reports and vibes on the blog, I'm wearing dry clothes! And it's sunny, sunny, sunny.
Keeping you all in my thoughts,
Love, Michelle x

What a lovely photo of Jeanette on a balcony, guess that is your flat! So pleased you got out for some pushes around the lake on what was a beautiful day. Enjoy all the treats that come your way and keep up the good work. The medication sounds as though it is helping which is great news. Hope you have a very happy time when Simon arrives tomorrow and that the weather stays bright and sunny for you.
All our love as always

PS We will send a couple of photos of our trip to Val D'Isere so check your email.
Good morning Ali!
Great to hear that you are in good spirits today.
Looked up Wikipedia to find out more about this drug - interesting to see that it's also used on dogs with severe anxiety disorders such as destructiveness, excessive vocalisation and loss of toilet control (sounds like my husband on a lads night out!) Then found the University of Portsmouth Clomipramine Trial - that's better, get the idea now.
Hope this gives you renewed strength to fight on, and lots of lovely French sunshine and visits from friends to keep you cheery.
Quote for today:
"Strength does not come from physical capacity.
It comes from an indomitable will."
(Mahatma Gandhi)
Take it easy and keep smiling.
Hey Ali,
Lovely to read that you're having such a great time. Keeping everything crossed that Clomipramine holds the key.
Hope you have lots more great weather and pushes round the lake and have some ice cream for me!
Thinking of you all and sending loads of love

Hi Ali
I read the same web sites re the drug and had to finally come to terms with having failed chemistry O level! I don't understand all the tricyclic stuff but it sounds as though that tumour is going to be gasping for breath while you may possibly lose your compulsion for eating cake!!
Result.
I am sure team Rainback has it thoroughly researched, mulled, ruminated and combabulated and is now being patient. You are in the right spot for it - so glad you are where you want to be, feeling happy and taking positive action.
You're helping everyone feel good!
A+

Hi Ali, fantastic seeing you today, thanks for letting us come to visit, was great to be able to bring you up to speed on all the Zermatt BASI chat (some of it anyway)! Great to see how positive you are. You are truly an inspiration to us all. Enjoy the rest of your time in Annecy and keep planning your camper van trip around the Alps.

Dear Ali
So pleased to hear you are back in Annecy, what an uplifting place to be at this time of year. We think of you daily and are sending positive thoughts to you and your family.
with love and BIG HUGS from Cathy, John, Jack and Sophie Hendry, xx
Dear Alistair,
I've been a bit overloaded after going on the cancer website & reading tons of info....My wife was taking Clomipramine for about 6 months for depression. She said it has some side effects but didn't do her any harm. (If you get stuck it is available in France)....
Life is strange.... you are eating like a horse because of steroids & normally you are fit. Normally I eat like a horse but am losing weight every week because of my medication. I feel better for the weight loss but have even worse a temper than normal.
Well done for researching & deciding to try something, it is good to know that we have done what we could....Much prayers & love to you, Jeanette, Mum & Dad & all the Rainbacks

Up very late marking coursework so I thought I would take a break and read your blog. Lovely to hear about sunny Annecy, I wish we could have joined you there last September. Your positivity makes me feel so humble when I sit here cursing about my marking. Hope you continue to improve, thinking of you and Jet, your family, friends and colleagues.
Best thing that happened yesterday - finding some FREE flights (+ Taxes) with Ryanair to Nimes this weekend so we can enjoy some French spring sunshine.

Megs and I send you our very best wishes. It sounds as though you are in the perfect place to recoup the energy and enjoy some quality time. Love your blog and all the photogrphs. If there is anything we can do just say.

Hi there,
Greetings from down under. Life is good here with lots of family around to laugh with which is fun. Must admit though missing John lots. Having simon around will be good medicine and no doubt lots of laughing will take place. Annecy would certainly have to be one of the worlds best places to mend in.
Remember cuddles and kisses make the world go round so make sure you get more than your fair share.
Love to Jeanette and your parents.
Hey what a lovely photo of Jeanette on your balcony. She really is a beautiful lady.
Lots of Love CArolyn.

Hi Ali,
Jo and I are thinking of you (all) in Annecy - as others have said, a great place to get better. Your positivity is tremendous, hoping the pills are doing the trick. I wish we could pop round for a cup of tea.
The cricket at Kimpton on Saturday was superb fun - I was out for a duck but I took two wickets. Got sunburnt - how very English.
Keep on keeping on.
Love to you all,
Marzie

Hello mate,
Whilst living out here in the west country I have been trying my hand at the local past times one of which is a game called skittles (unlike any other form of skittles known to people of Essex), that requires a steady hand eye co-ordination only achieved by drinking plenty of the black stuff (guiness not coffee, that comes later). Well tonight I posted my highest score and we have progressed to the semi-finals of the cup wwwoooohhhh!!! so watch this space foe the silverware report. This brings me to mention the fact that with the way the results panned out on the weekend that it is still mathmatically possible for the Arsenal to clinch the title (if results go our way) in 2 weeks, here's hoping.
Good to hear you are enjoying yourselves over there in the sunshine, back here we really have got the April showers and some. Good to hear the pill popping has started and reading into the comments left before the side effects shouldn't be too bad excepting your eating, but you'll run it off soon enough. So chin up and keep smiling as prof Pilkington is going to be hard at work now,
Russ, Belle & Cara xxx
Ali
Everyone at Arsenal FC from manager Arsene Wenger to all the members of the 1st team squad send you very best wishes. Just keep up the good work and the energy levels.
yours

Hey Ali,
am sending you an email too, but just wanted to say hello - hope the sun's shining in annecy (it's raining here in chamonix)... and hope you're having a good time with simon and the family over there.
and now you're in with the top brass at the arsenal I'm sure you'll be wanting liverpool to go through later! ha ha!
take it easy, and take plenty of cakes with you for the journey back to blighty,
lots of love Katie

Hi Ali!
If you add chocolate to your new pills you'll have Clomi-praline. There, doesn't that sound (and probably taste) better?
As I type, Drogba has just scored the first goal of the night. Come on you Blues!!
And come on you Rainbacks!! Keep strong, mate.
Ewan
Hello mate,
Just logged on and saw the message from Bob Wilson and all at the Arsenal, cool or what mate your are in touch with the gods of football. Hope all is well we are off down to Devon for a long weekend break with the family before the new arrival (under 4 weeks now and Belle is looking and doing great), so keep smiling.
Russ, Belle & Cara xxx
Hey Ali,
Thought I'd posted before but think I lost it somewhere in the ether.
Just thought I'd say Hello and hope you're having a great time with the family and that the sun is shining on you.
We had gorgeous weather on Saturday but rain since then - it is England after all!
Can't believe you won't be in the country and will miss the opportunity to prance about on a float for the May Festival in Kimpton this weekend (I assume it's this weekend - if it still actually happens at all) - was so much better when it was on the Rec before they dug it up to make a football pitch - still... I'm so out of touch with the old place - often think about moving back tho. Do any other Kimptonians remember that really frightening Punch and Judy show that used to get put on in the garden of the house next to the rec? Used to give me nightmares!!
Anyhoo..still thinking SHRINK and sending lots of love to Team Rainback
Take Care
J-A
Oh MY GOD!! I just googled Kimpton May Festival thinking it wouldn't even get a mention - seems I was wrong. Might have to pop by the village this weekend for old time's sake!!
Lots of Love
J-A
We are probably like many others - we keep thinking of you, keep checking your blog, keep hoping and praying for you but dont always leave a comment. Just wanted you to know that we are ALL still here for you.
