Bonjour Everyone!
I feel like I'm in a dream - every time I open my eyes I'm at home in Annecy! I love it here so much!
Firstly, I need to apologise to Mum for pestering for food (steroids) for the 13hr journey down here and secondly thank Dad for getting us here safely.
I still can't walk on my own and need help getting around because my balance isn't so good. My sight and my hearing aren't so good either but I'm happy don't worry!
It was great to see Martin and Deirdre yesterday and Tom here for dinner and I'm looking forward to seeing more friends soon. Jeanette and I are going for a drive today up Semnoz and Forclaz! Yippee!
Love
Ali

Hi mate,
Glad you got there safely and it wasn't me having to listen to you banging on about stopping for a Macdonalds every ten minutes for 13 hours this time. Well done Ian and Diana!
It must be great to be out there in Annecy again. Enjoy the Lake and mountains, and chuck something at the winos and tramps by the river for me.
Love to you Rainbacks and Jeanette.

Hey Ali,
Lost my previous post in cyberspace somewhere.
So good to read a new post from you and great to read that you are clearly so happy and excited to be back home.
The thought of you banging on at your Mum about food makes me think of the cry that I'm sure all of Dacre remember and that was an unchanging part of my childhood "EeeeeeeYUN, SiiiiiiiiiiiMON, AliSTAAAAAIR!!".
Best thing about today is the lovely sunshine, gentle breeze and planning a lunch for tomorrow - three of us in the same department have our birthday on the same
day. One of my other really good friends also has the same birthday so I'll see her in the evening too!
If nothing else over the last 5 months I've really realised the importance of spending time with the people you care about.
Hope you have a lovely, relaxing break and come back fighting.
Lots of love to all
J-A

Hey Ali
Just a quick Hi from the 3 of us rainbacks left in Poole (Jo, Charlie and Archie).
I am so happy that you are finally home and spending time in the beautiful places that you love. Si is moving hell and high water to get to you as soon as physically possible nxt week - me, I do have to stay put and try to maintain some stability for my boys (hope you understand).
We are looking forward to welcoming you to the beach once you return, moving day on Saturday is the 1st step to making this happen and I am sourcing curtains etc for your room tomorrow!!
Take care Ali Bear and enjoy the lake and the mountains.
With my love
Jo xx
Hello mate,
Great to hear you are back safe and well, but whats all this about being such a bad passenger? I remember us two driving to Paris for the Champions League Final a couple of years ago and having a tyre blow out enroute to which we changed onto the spare likea formula 1 pit crew and were back underway in no time. Happy days, not the result though unlike tonight seeing the Pool get a bit of pay back with that classy last minute equaliser (nothing to do with sour grapes ha! ha!). Have yourselves a fantastic time and we must get together after your return to the UK.
Take care, still Thinking Shrink

Dear Alistair,
reading the blog & thinking of you often. I like to go home myself, although I don't always feel so comfortable there...
I came in late this evening and my little boy who is nearly 5 & mildly autistic started tickling my eyebrows & playing a game he must have learnt in school.....
Fish in your hair (he makes like fish are in my hair, mice in your hair etc etc) great great progress for him....He really started to laugh when I suggested elephants and cars in your hair...ouch!!!
God bless you & Jeanette & all the Rainbacks....
Well done Ian, quite a punishing drive...If you could phone me please, my email is down

Hi there big man,
Just another quick g'day from down under. Kids out for the day with our good friends from Andorra (Erika,Paul and Maia)who have emmigrated to Australia. They have gone on a koala, kanagaroo and emu hunt in the volcano down the road. Went to the doc today with bronchitis, mentioned that I lived in France and the first thing he talked about was ANNECY. I smiled and said a special friend of mine lives there. It's nice to be able to picture you all having breakfast on your balcony.Hope the garden has survived. My love and best wishes are with you all together there enjoying the fun and beauty of that wonderful place.
Did a bad thing though......lied and said I speak pretty good French (far too embarrassing to tell the truth!!!!)
See you soon, Love CArolyn, Lotti and Matilda.
Hey Ali,
Woohoo!! It's my birthday! I got in to work today to loads of cards and flowers and pressies. I Feel very spoilt.
But the BEST thing about today was getting an email from an old friend I've not heard from in ages - meeting for dinner and catchup in the next few weeks. YAY!
Hope you have a wonderful day in your favourite place.
Love to all
J-A

How great to hear you being so happy and positive. We were so pleased that you have made it to Annecy. We just wish we were here in Val D'Isere with a car so we could pop up to visit you but unfortunately we don't have transport. The snow fell constantly for virtually two days when we arrived and now we have excellent powder off piste and on. We are so fortunate to have such brilliant snow at this time of year. So sorry that we aren't able to meet up with you this week but we promise when you get back to England if you would like us to call we will come to see you. Have a great time in France and we send all our love to you, Jeanette and all your family. Keep up the good work and keep blogging.
All our love as always,
Chris & David xxxxxxxxxx
So pleased for you to be back in your natural habitat, I'm sure you're having fun. Enjoy yourselves.
With love to Jeanette and your parents.
Marzie & Jo
Hi Ali, I know what you mean when you say you are "home". I think of Chamonix the same way. Have a great time there. I am off to Zermatt at the weekend (Shona is there just now). I know that everyone there is thinking of you and regularly checking your blog. Hope you had a great drive up Semnoz and Forclaz today. Love, Derek
Hi Ali, Sounds like your having a excellent time, back home in your skiing world! Mc D's must of run out of Burgers! No wonder there is a shortage this week!! Enjoy and take it all in, thinking off you as always mate.. LOL Craig and Tash xx
Bienvenue chez toi, mon pote!
Empty trophy cabinet for the Gooners this year - not so for the Blues, on last night's reckoning. I always rated Riise!!
Just hearing where you are makes us sooooooooo jealous. We didn't make it on to the slopes this winter. We are going to Italy this summer though, and would love to drop in on our way. Given that you and your bro were catering at our wedding, I can make you feel really old by introducing you to our 15, 13 and 11 year old! I'll drop you a separate note with dates etc.
Give our love to Ian & Diana, and to the ever-lovely Jeanette - can't wait to meet her.
With love, Ewan & Claire
Hi Ali. Hope you had a good day yesterday and today, with lots of good days to follow. Remember though! If you still need to eat lots?...."BEANZ MEANZ FARTZ"! Awrabest.
Hi Ali,
Great to hear you sounding so happy! Must be that mountain air! Hope you enjoy your stay, we are thinking of you lots.
