Monday Evening

Bonjour Everyone

Well done Lezza and thanks for doing the triathlon and raising so much for HOSF- hope you're feeling ok.

Yesterday Trish took me outside in my Naked Chariot (easier than Chorlton) and I spent 2 hours on the patio in the sun.

Watched the Grand Prix with Mum, Dad and Jeanette and a glass of white Paal-wicked! Sorry about the race Lewis -good luck in France-you'll need it!

Today had visits from Luce and Dinga -but sorry I was too sleepy to see Auntie Marg and Uncle Peter but thanks for coming.

I've been skooshing with Elsie today too but that's our secret isn't it Nan?

Must tuck down now.

Lots of Love

Ali x

ALI ! so good to hear from you, and to hear that you were outside in the sun. I saw Nicola Hulme today and we were talking about old times. Let's hope Ewan doesn't start posting any old photos on the web (!)

Love to you, team R, blogsters, new babies and ex-bats.

Hi Mate,
Yeaterday was a beautiful day, glad to hear you enjoyed it in the sunshine. As for Lewis Hamilton what a plonker!!
We spent the morning recovering from the night before. We went to a freinds 40th bash. I took her flowers unfortunately they didn't make the evening. Someone ate them.
The afternoon was spent renovating our new house. Just watched the Holland v Italy game. The best game yet. Shame we're not there, we have Mclaren to thank for that, big mistake dropping Beckham. Hang on in there mate, best wishes

Hello mate,

Good to hear that you are in high spirits and enjoying the weather we're having. Spoke with Gordy and Nic and Sian today and they have been having an absolutely sh*t time with the weather over sounds more like a UK summer. Shame about Lewis but there is a long way to go and like Sos I have just been watching the Cloggies give the Italians a thumping. Take care and keep smiling,

Hey Ali!

Not sure I want to hear about a Naked Chariot - sounds positively pornographic! And as for skooshing ... !!!??? It sounds like either the act of skiving off teaching duties by schussing off to where no one will find you, or else is it a romp in the banana bath?

Great to hear of you being outside and soaking up some rays, and enjoying some white Paarl. Keep on quaffing, and we'll keep on blogging!

Stay strong
Love Ewan xxx

Hey Ali

Glad you've been enjoying the sun with J*. I'd love to, but I'm way too ginger to risk any rays! Ask Jet - I burn at the mere mention of sunshine so am currently hiding in the house! Will need to risk a dash to the shops to purchase some factor 50!!!

Keep up the good work with the white wine, and lots of love to you, Jet and your gang.

Love, Jacquie x

Morning Ali,

Ali,

Get some of the footy in, great match last night with the Dutch, shame about the French.... Still Spain v Ruskis should be a cracket tonight, I fancy the Spanish to do better this time.

Weather is cooling this week so you might need a tea towel over you when out in the chariot.

Take care mate.

Morning Ali,
Great to hear from you this morning and that you've managed to enjoy the sunshine and watch the grand prix.
With euro 2008, there is lots of sport for you to watch, although it sounds like you are keeping yourself busy with other activities - skooshing....sounds very dodgy!
Not much to report, I'm aching a bit from the tri but nothing serious.
I hope you have a good day today, stay strong.
All my love, Nix x

Hi Ali,

Skooshing does sound a bit dodgy as Nix rightly says, so I looked it up on the internet and I came up with Household Flea Spray. Perhaps that explains why you were feeling fidgety a couple of days ago....?
Great that you've been able to get outside. I think we're all intrigued enough to see the Naked Chariot please!

Keep on keeping on (when is Awrabest back - I miss his jokes!)

Love

Sheila

Hi Ali, I wondered too if arabest is still on holiday. He must be suffering from severe 'think shrink' withdrawl symtoms by now. There still seem to be plenty of reserves to fill his place on the blog however!! Hope you can enjoy the sun again today-but 'naked'-don't know about that!!! Stay strong Ali-thinkin of you. Love Nora x

Dearest Ali

How great to read your blog. Sounds as though you have been pretty busy with visits and time in the sun. Another warm day today so hope that you manage to soak up some more sunshine - such a tonic.

Intrigued to know what skooshing is so hopefully you will enlighten us soon.

Stewart just emailed us a couple of photos of little Freya swimming under water. They are absolutely wonderful pictures. If we can arrange a visit to see you soon with your mum, I will bring along some prints of the little fish. Apparently she was out jogging with Stewart at the weekend and roller blading! (Freya in the buggy of course being pushed by daddy). We have no doubt that once Freya is able to walk she will be introduced to a pair of skis. She will undoubtedly be following in her dad's footsteps.

Have a great day Ali and lots of love and hugs to you. We will try to contact your mum over the next couple of days.

All our love and hugs as always.Keep smiling Ali.

Chris, David, Stewart, Jo, Freya, Sarah and Daniel xxxxxxx

Ali,

Great to hear from you. Naked sunbathing and a glass of vino - fantastic.

Is it alright if I skoosh on the Central Line or will I get arrested?

Hey Ali

I'm sorry but after all this skooshing, vino drinking sunbathing and nakedness....my day is just positively dull!!

Glad to hear you are enjoying some sunshine.

Hi Ali glad to here you have been out in the sun. Our classrooms are like sweat boxes ( the money ran out before they could put in air conditioning! ) still good for the diet!! All the kids send their love, they were a bit concerned when we didn't hear from you for a bit.....no pressure then! Little Ali seems to be growing ok and has two new leaves despite the builders rubble around the new classrooms! Thinking of you all evry day,

Hi Ali
guess I am one of the many people who read this every night before going up to bed but somehow don't get to leave you a message - always feels like someone else has left the perfect message for you already.

Anyhow, Ewan remembering that famous ski trip and the burning towel incident conjured up lots of memories of you on expeditions. there were always those conversations around 2am when you were completely drunk but thought you could hold a serious conversation with David or I on some subject like why you shouldn't go to bed. Somehow, 17 year old lads think that they are stringing together a logical argument when usually it's just a strange collection of words that don't really even make a sentence. Still it made me smile again to think of it.

I hope you can get out in the sun again tomorrow - finally summer feels like it might have got here. eat chocolate and drink the wine - always good when Ewan has chosen it. Thinking of you every day!

Hey Ali,

Naked Chariots? Skooshing? Enquiring minds need to know!

Hope you've been having a lovely few days. The weather has certainly been glorious although I've been stuck in the office until stupid o'clock both days. The system was completely down yesterday so everything felt a bit fruitless and I was tempted to tell everyone they could take their work outside and sit in the sun like we used to at junior school. Those days seem so long ago and our biggest worry was whether there would be ice lollies! Pimms ice lolly - oh that's got to be good.

No more news on the exbats as Glyn's been at a conference but the broken wing cannot be set apparently and will just droop. That particular chicken has been named Nelson. Obvious I guess, but I have pointed out that Nelson WAS a boy. I think Henus (Venus de Milo) would be better but we are in dispute. Again, will keep you updated. The non exbats arrive this weekend so the excitement should reach some dizzy heights.

I suppose I'd better go to work. Seems such a shame when all I want to do is sit in my garden.

I hope you get that bed or Naked Chariot or whatever you fancy out into your lovely garden and have a snooze in the sun.

Love you lots, Ali. Always in our thoughts.

Hi Ali

Well, I haven't skooshed for a while, so i'm a bit jealous ;)

Lezza did do well with the triathlon (I struggled to spell that, let alone do it!!). Do you know she's now reached over the thousand quid mark.. I told her that no-one likes a show off! Seriously though, how brilliant that she did that. She'll kill me for this, but here is a clip of her finishing:

http://virginmediablenheim2008.sportcamvideo.net/videopage.php?bib=2395

She looks pretty good considering, think i'd have crawled over the finish line crying!

Glad you got out in the sunshine.

Lots of love, miss you

Sorry, forgot, for those of you who don't know Lezza (aka Nix) then she is the lovely lady in blue at the front!

Wanted to wish you a happy sunny day. At present the weather is holding so hope you manage to get outside into the garden to take in some of the beautiful weather.

Don't forget we all want to be enlightened as to the "naked wheelchair" and what on earth is "skooshing"?!!

Have a great day. Keep smiling.
All our love and hugs as always Ali.

Hi Ali
The sunshine, wine, lovely food and company sound pretty good! I've been out of touch for a bit...leading stuff down in the verdon gorge...no computer etc. The weather here, and Provence, been a bit uncharacteristic ( Provence was just like the UK...everyone chatting gloomily about the weather..all the time!). The footpaths through the Gorge were closed...the lakes were so high and the dams under so much pressure that they were ready to have to let loads of water go at any point!
May pass by this friday and drop you off a treat or two.
Hugs Pipxx

Hi Ali,

Sorry not to have blogged for a while. That is such a cool photo of you skiing in powder, I really must learn to ski like that in those conditions.

Jo and I went to Ben le Fleming's wedding on Saturday where, unusually, they had a toast to absent friends. Of course we thought of you guys...

I'm off to Lord's tomorrow night to watch Middlesex v Essex Twenty 20 cricket which should be good fun.

Sorry to read that you have been below par and hope that you are now enjoying the weather and some good company. [I have a Scottish friend who defined Englishmen as men who are 2 drinks below par - I think I know what he meant!]

Keep blogging, love to you all,

David & Jo

Hi Ali and team Rainback - I have established that skooshing is the special language that is spoken when someone is wearing the beer cloak, and using the beer degree to speak a language they think they are fluid (drunk speak for fluent)in. Gald that one's sorted. Still cannot beat your Dad to his lawn - I think I heard his mower at 3am the other morning, but I will get there one day!
Kep the faith Ali, we're rooting for you.
Love, Roger and Carol

Hi Ali

Good to read you got outside on Sunday and hope you have managed to do the same the last couple of days. It must be sunny there because even up here there is a strange golden orb in the sky! I have been loving the stories of the "ex-bats" - I too have some rescued chickens, long story how I ended up with them but six arrived and I know absolutely nothing about them so have to look up the internet every two mins - they however seem to be doing something right because two weeks ago six became twelve! I hope they stop doing what they are doing right soon!

Anyway look forward to the next update, thinking of you always.

Love

Hi Ali,

I hope you are having a good time sckooshing and you may well be sleeping now. If so, sleep well & hopefully you will read this tomorrow.

I'm not sure I'm enjoying this lezza reference :-), for other bloggers I used to call Ali "gay boy" so he kindly calls me "lezza" - lovely, but for some reason it always makes me giggle.

I wasn't sure if any of the other bloggers wanted to sponsor me (it's past the event) but all the money is going to St Francis hospice. If you do - great, here is the link http://www.justgiving.com/nicolafleming.

Ali & the Rainback team I am thinking and praying for you all.

Love,
