Good Evening.

It's Martin here. Ali is staying with us for a few days and has asked me to let you all know how he is getting on.

Although a little better today, his eyesight is very "squiffy" at the moment and he is finding it quite difficult to type. He was going to dictate something but the lure of his bed was too great!

He is in pretty good form but would like to see his vision and balance start to improve a bit. He also has some numbness around his face which he would like to see the back of. On the good side, he has been sleeping much better for the last few nights.

Two of Ali's good pals, Tom & Sean came to see him tonight which he really enjoyed.

Agenda for tomorrow is breakfast, short walk in the sun, coffee on a sun terrace, sleep, lunch, bath, shave (Jeanette is coming to stay on Tuesday night!), sleep, bit of telly, dinner, a visit from John & Carolyn, then off to bed again.

I'm sure Ali will be back in full "blogger" flow tomorrow. Meanwhile I will try to post a photo I took of him yesterday.

Hi Ali! In that hat you look like a BLUE GRASS BANJO PLUCKIN' MOUNTAIN MAN. OK,so the beard's a bit dodgy! Enjoy France and all it means to you. Stay strong and live long. Awrabest.

Dearest Ali

It's such a relief to know that Martin and Deirdre have taken you in hand but what's happened-you look like a hill-billy-get that beard trimmed!

You're lucky to have such special friends who are prepared to help you, so make the most of it, take the time you need and DO AS YOU'RE TOLD!! Don't be in your usual rush and all the good things will come back in time. PLEASE BE PATIENT and let your body heal itself as it will if you let it.

Remember that the best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time!

With all my special love to you.

God Bless

Mum xxxxx

I take it you are sitting somewhere in this gorgeous alpine sun. It is fantastic isn't it, enjoy.

I am not sure if you are here in CVL or somewhere else, but if there is anything you think we can do to help with give us a shout.

Hi Ali
I'm an avid reader of the blog now - what a journey you're on. I hope that la belle France is doing you good and that you are also taking your Mum's advice and letting your body rest.

I have a tiny ability to empathise with the tiredness and numb face although I am only dealing with Bell's Palsy...still recovering but I have learnt to be patient and to sleep even when I think I should be up, busy and socialising (or getting back to work!). I know now that the tiredness is an indication that my poor body is working hard to make me better.

I also used to feel that I had to tell people I felt ok when I felt like you know what. Why do Brits do that?? At least I now have good weeks and bad days rather than good days and bad weeks ... the balance has changed a lot in the last 3 months.

Having an aim and a vision for the furture has got to be the way ahead... Your blog is actually inspiring me to just pick up and go ....

I'll keep you posted!

Lots of love (and regards to Tom S)
