Oh! had a perfect day yesterday.I had my appoitmentb with the speech therapistist and scoffed what in she gave me. Wendy,and pam were at the scan, bianca was away so I took some biscuits from scotlnad - i hope they're nice! TaTheyt.ts so that kind when they stick the needle in!

Then the highlight of our day - we went to shenly and got fitted for a wheelchair.....excellent! It fits wel and 'm very excited!
We'll give it a go this morning.

As soon as I got up I was onto your blog to see how things went for you yesterday. We have been thinking about you constantly and admiring your courage. As is more than evident from today's blog you are still keeping positive and that is excellent.
I am sure we shall hear some stories about your wheelchair exploits.

The man looks over at the wheelchair in the corner of his room, the chrome wheels, foot rests and handles at the back. He is not sure how he feels about it, he knows that it will help him move around, he has trouble keeping still at the best of times so movement is good……his mind wanders as he starts to think about all the other things in his life that have helped move him – physically and emotionally.
The memory of his first pair of skis flashes across his mind, how alien they felt when he made his first tracks across the piste, and how he worked at it, for hours and hours, months and years, until they felt part of him. How carrying them and putting them on became second nature, how they were with him as he enjoyed some of the most amazing experiences of his life. He smiles when he thinks of the beginners he has taught, and how they start out struggling with strange skis, poles and boots until the new equipment is tamed, and the beginners are off, swooping down the slopes, and the skis are forgotten as they glide silently across the snow.
Could it be the same with the wheelchair ? A new way of experiencing life, a skill to be learned, a friend to be made? He stops to think about it, then suddenly laughs out loud, wait until Nick sees it, he won’t be able to contain himself ‘We roll like this Ali’…..

So glad you had such a good day yesterday. Will be waiting with everyone else and with bated breath and everything crossed for 10th April.
As for the new transport well - Walter the wheelchair springs to mind as I seem to remember someone who could be a right Wally! There's always Winona as you will be riding it and apparentely I'm told, who wouldn't....I'm sure I don't know what that could possibly mean!
My Dad recently got one of those mobility scooters as these days he's finding that walking is very difficult at times. I keep threatening to paint flames up the side of it and attach flashing lights and sirens but he won't let me near it!
I'm wondering how well your new friend would cope with the slope off Dacre to the lane.....maybe Park Lane might be a better test!

Great to hear that you had a great day and that Dinga shouted you lunch. Thinking shrink till the tenth and beyond. Now as for naming the chair you could go down the route of ryhming slang and if you took a leaf out of Jonathon Ross's book and of the life of Brian it could be Woderwick or Woger. Or you could go down the route of fancy cars as suggested by Phil and if so it could only be an Aston Martin known by the monologue "DB 10". I'm glad to hear that you had a good day yesterday.
It's been all go out here in Meribel. Lots of children - I have even been let loose and allowed to help with ski school. Last week I helped Tom and Dave, Dave had a group of Wallabies and Tom had the ickle whippersnappers. It's so amazing watching them improve, one moment they are all spagetti legs, falling over all the time and the next moment they are bombing down the slope in the biggest snow plough ever - awesome!!! I have also got very good at wipping snotty noses - YUK!
Anyhow, another 2 weeks to go & then it's back to the UK, how time flies.
I am thinking of you always - THINK SHRINK.

You have so many friends with wonderful imaginations. It´s fun having mini competitions on your blog.
You know even more people will be lining up to visit now (all begging for a ride on your wheelchair) I have this image of you burning the rubber causing havoc around the corridors of the hospital giggling lots. Diana and Ian you will have to be wearing your running shoes from now on.
Your new friend will allow you Ali to travel further afield and enjoy the outdoors. Hope the weather in Old Blighty is good for you.

Never read a blog before and yours gives a great view of family and friends that is usually left to the imagination of the staff at the Royal Free, who've scanned you and enjoyed your jokes and the scottish shortbread!

thinking of you as always, havn't written for a while. Following your progress & the blog too. My new placement in the Port Canto at Cannes does not seem to be to hard. we work at least 35 Hours per year, God is good as my back & sciatica problem will not allow me to work myself too hard at the moment. Spent the whole snow season not snowboarding (like yourself) worried about uninsured injury stopping me from earning for my little family!!!! Still we have played in the snow a few times all the same.
Working with a Serb who was in the war (conscripted) He has a healthy perspective on many things....
