Saturday Morning

Bonjour Everyone

I'm still in bed and been fed warm weetabix and Mum's chocolate goo for breakfast and watching Sky Sports. I feel really tired but that will go I guess.

Thanks for coming yesterday Wozza great to see you and go over old times.

Thanks for the tee-shirt Jane-Anne the Zen Dog quote is wicked:

He knows not where he's going
For the ocean will decide
It's not the DESTINATION......
...It's the glory of THE RIDE.

Keep em coming

Love

Ali x

Ali is very tired now but happy to be here. He's so well cared for and as always has made his mark. Everyone loves looking after him because he never fails to take an interest in them, is always ready with a joke and a polite word and has never complained. I'm so proud to be his mum.

He knows the score and that he doesn't have that much time but is talking about it and is accepting of the situation which is comforting for us.

Please keep him in your prayers.

Much Love

Diana xx

Hey Ali,

Why am I awake at this time on a Saturday - something's not right!

You're very welcome. It just made me think of you, especially as you were lying back on your bed looking quite relaxed last time I saw you, like the pooch in the boat. Hope it fits as I had to guess for sizing so if it doesn't let me know and I'll get the right size to you.

I have to agree with Ewan, warm Weetabix is yuck. In fact it's making me gag just thinking about it - ugh.

I've not read "If" in quite the same way before. Could have been written for you, AllyBally. Good call, whoever posted that.

I hope you have a lovely day and that the weather is better over in Berko - it's a bit pants here, but it's Saturday so I can cope with that.

Lots of love to all of Team Rainback.

Hi Ali. I think he wrote it for his own son, killed in the bloody mess they called 'The war to end all wars'. A fine poem without ambiguity! Yet, as with most writings, it can give rise to humour!

Sometimes it’s really cold, when reality bites and there is just no getting away from the truth that they all must face. She looks at the screen and knows that they are all joined through the man, he reached out, and one by one, they all joined hands to form the chain that now stretches round the world. It’s warmer now, she can feel the strong hand holding hers as she reaches out to the person beside her, and on down the line. There are so many people in the chain, each one sending strength to the man and his special family. They may not be able to see each other, but one thing is sure, no one is letting go.

So Diana, Ian, Jeanette, Simon, Jo and of course Ali, know that our hands are in yours and that we are in this together. As for prayers, well, I know I am sending a few up…..

Dearest Ali,

I was contemplating the cup final and thought of you immediately as the I watched the Ex Arsenal XI take on Cardiff City. Not the best of Finals but still gives you the goosebumps of the Cup Final day you remember as a lad.

I am forever thankful for small mercies Ali and to have the hope in our lives you have instilled in us through this experience will always be with us. I spoke to Stuey and Miara today, the first time in ages talking about you, they send their love and best wishes-an example of how you have united old friends and appreciate the time we have.

We take comfort in the fact you are being so well looked after and that you never ever give up, and you must not! We are all so proud of you buddy.

I have 12 of my form doing the race for life next Sunday after following the Blog and my boys won the County cup final 1-0 on Monday at Edgeware Town FC. The boys raised £150 and have donated it to the Macmillan appeal.

If you ever need a laugh think of my stance and total inability to Charleston turn!! When ever I need a laugh I always think of you and Franny and the pace maker trick when doing a runner from any curry house!

I came across this and thought you may like it?

What I hope for is happy.
What I hope for is love.
What I hope for is peace.
What I hope for is that hope itself is not lost.
Many people give upon hope,
Never going for more.
Never putting it on line and hope that everything will alright.
Hope is that what make sorrow go away.
Hope is kingdom were build on it,
Hope that greatness would come pass.
What I hope for is happy
I hope for is love
I hope for a life of peace
I hope that hope itself never gets lost and that you keep smiling, for your smile is a memory that can never be lost" Jody Johnson

Take it easy buddy, God bless to you and Team Rainback.

My little three year old was playing for time, she was meant to be asleep nearly two hours ago, she sneaked downstairs and looked at my laptop, I was reading the blog and wishing I knew what to write, she pointed to the picture of you and Fat Nick, she said 'who are these?' my reply was 'mummy's friends' she wanted to see all your photos (took a while). She laughed quite alot at your banana bath and then asked if she could play games on cbeebies (needless to say she got packed off to bed!). Why does it take a three year old for me to realise how much you mean to everyone around you and everyone on the blog, some who have never met you! I got my old HVSU photo albums out and looked through heaps of photos of all of us in our teens WOW we look so young and goodlooking...
I think about you every day.

Wow, what amazing words of wisdom people manage to write. Along with so many of your other friends over the years I have had the pleasure of experiencing a number of unique experiences with you. From Junior school & cubs through to Scout Camps, secondary school & expeditions abroad with Ventures. You have always had such a positive outlook on life and this has continued through to today. Your cheeky grin and infectious laugh is something no one can forget.
Stay strong and you know that so many people around the world are following your daily blog.

Hi Ali and family,
I have followd your blog with interest since January when I met you and your father at the Royal Free, I was having radiotherapy for breast cancer (the teacher still marking exercise books in the waiting room!) My mother's motto was also 'Whilst there's life there's hope' Your positiveness has been a great help to me and like you I try to make the most of each day - even went to Australia for 2 weeks over Easter! My prayers are with you and your family. Take care

The Tear and the Telescope
Author: Kate Woodman

The tear said to the telescope
"People see more through me"

The telescope replied
"Oh really, how can that be?"

"They see deep down into my soul"
The tiny tear replied
"I show sorrow, grief and scars
While you see only distant stars"

"But I can magnify the world"
The telescope replied
"You are just a drop of dew
In someone`s crying eyes"

"I don`t agree", the tear retorted
I can help to get things sorted
Open floodgates of disaster
Or run with joy and fun and laughter"

"But I can see a million stars
And planets - Venus, Saturn, Mars
I can cross the seven seas
So I`m the greatest, if you please!"

"But I am precious to the world,"
The tiny tear went on
"I show compassion, grief and pain
Helping people take the strain
Of all the things they have to bear
While all you do is stand and stare"

"Alright", the telescope conceded
"I guess you`re right
But tell your eyes
When tears have dried
That I can help to open wide
A world of joy in secret skies
Hidden from the naked eyes
So let`s agree to work together
You show joy and pain and pleasure
While I show galaxies and treasure"

"Oh, yes!" the tear replied
"I see your point,
We both are blessed by God above
Who sends us different gifts of love"
And so the two walked hand in hand
Throughout the world
As God had planned.

Ali,
You have magnified our world,
brought us tears of joy, pain and pleasure.
You have showed us what is important,
and what we must always treasure.
You have brought our worlds together
and we will remain that way forever.
We will always look up to the skies.
and from the stars feel your inspiration through our eyes.

Thank you for being our tear and our telescope.

Hey Ali,

Just checking the blog before I head off to bed - like many others I check it frequently throuh the day and read everybody's comments. I've said it before but I've never met anyone with this many friends. You really are a lucky boy and we are blessed for being part of your life. I hope you know how much you're loved and respected.

I think about and pray for you every day.

Lots of love

I've been thinking (I do sometimes!) that it's about time this blog had a karaoke section, so come on all you HVSU & Gang Show types - you know the words! And for those who don't, here they are. Follow the bouncing ball...

Ali, this one is for you, Jet and the whole of Team Rainback.

After three - one, two, three:

"Together, when we’re all together we know how lucky we are.
The world around us is ev’rything,
The sound of music, the songs we sing;
And even from the coldest winter the warmest summer arrives.
We’ll share together, when we’re together, the best years of our lives"

Love from Ewan, Claire, Isobel, Bethany & William xxxxx

Hurray - gang show karaoke, about time too I say :

Just One Voice,
Singing in the darkness,
All it takes is One Voice,
Singing so they hear what's on your mind,
And when you look around you'll find
There's more than

One Voice,
Singing in the darkness,
Joining with your One Voice,
Each and every note another octave,
Hands are joined and fears unlocked,
If only

One Voice
Would start it on its own,
We need just One Voice facing the unknown,
And then that One Voice would never be alone,
It takes that One Voice.

It takes that One Voice.

Just One Voice
Singing in the darkness,
All it takes is One Voice,
Shout it out and let it ring.

Just One Voice,
It takes that One Voice,
And everyone will sing!
