Tuesday evening

Bonjour Everyone

I'm being looked after very well by everyone and I'm so happy because had a safe bath in a jacussi shaped like a banana this morning!

It was lovely to see Marzipan and Jo yesterday and Julia who brought me another Easter Egg which we had in the night! Nick came today and Si and Jo are coming tonight for a few days.

I'm so hungry because they've doubled my steroids but the food is great and the chef made me a splendid apple pie for my supper!!!! Thanks Chris you're a star!

Love

Ali

Hi Ali - thanks for the pudding tips - your chef's treats sound mouthwatering - as a sucker for puddins I'm now pedalling winter's apple pie and easter egg off my 'arris. There comes a point when using the extra kilos as a "training aid" wears as thin as my trunks will be if I don't keep pedalling then wanting apple pie. Catch 22 (mileage going north / shopping for pie and big bermudas...).

Thank-you for the inspiration Ali; all that you give so (apparently) effortlessly; all that you're generating during this chapter - it's great to read your updates, please keep them coming; we're out here, and hungry!

Check this link out (www.tinyurl.com/yqgmou) - for the evil genious of footer in binoculars. It's a bit like being at Crewe Alex some days... Magic.

Hey Ali,

Brilliant to see another blog from you. So generous to think of keeping us up to date when you're not feeling fantastic - although I'm quite envious of the jacuzzi. Someone once told me you can achieve a similar effect with a bottle of soluble aspirin in your bath - I remain unconvinced!

Hope your Mum is relaxing too and didn't leave your Dad up on the roof, ladderless before she came away!

Take care, always thinking of you

Hi Ali,

I heard St. Francis Hospice on Three Counties Radio today! Didn't hear any heckling from you in the background though!

Happy apple pie eating!

Hello mate,

Great to hear your appetite hasn't abated and you even get to bathe in a banana shaped jacuzzi (I think my Cara Lou might like that one and her Mum). But where is everyone digging these half price Easter eggs from, is there a local pound stretcher with an endless supply?

Take care and look forward to the next installment,

Russ, Belle & Cara xxx

Hey There Ali,

Good to hear all is hunky dory at St Fanny's and your having a nice time. I'm sure your mum is enjoying the rest also. The wonderful weather lifts the spirt as well.

I can't beleive I've been back in the UK almost a month now. I miss my French mountains so much. Not as much as I'm missing you.

I'll come visit soon.

Dearest Ali

As usual you are still sending us your positive vibes and we are returning our positive thinking ten fold. The jacussi shaped like a banana makes the mind boggle but I am sure it was great to feel safe and secure.

We were hoping to come over and replenish your chocolate suppy but will wait for a call from your mum as to when it will be convenient.

The Chef sounds like a great guy (male or female as the case may be) and is obviously looking after you very well.

Hope your mum is getting some well earned rest whilst staying with you. I can only imagine your room and the gardens outside although I did have a dream last night that we visited you there! You see you are in our minds 24/7 and so you should be. We are praying constantly for you Ali and we send so much love to you, your dear mum, dad, Jeanette and all the Rainback family.

Take care and keep smiling on this beautiful sunny day. Hope you get out into the garden today to enjoy the sunshine, it will do you so much good.

Love and hugs as always

It would be great to pop by when you are home to say hi, obviously not seen you for a long time, but the smile on your face mate is worth a million... Chin up as always...

See you soon

Good to hear that St Francis is looking after you well. That chef sounds amazing - if he wants to work a winter season, send him this way please!

Have you got a tv in your room as Heroes is back (You're mine by the way...)Thursdays at 9pm.

Enjoy the jacuzzi bath - I can make ours bubble without any aspirins......

Hi Ali - great to hear you have access to a local hospice, they really are great places, manned by geat people who just know how to get things sorted and make people feel better. I did the great north run last year to fund raise for the hospice movement - got over £2500 - good to know it is being put to good use... maybe it is the banana bath??!! Enjoy puds and jacussi.

Hi Ali!
I was in London unveiling a statue of myself last Friday, and was right royally entertained by 10 of the Harpenden Gang Show cast. Their conductor, whom I believe you know, said that the song "Something Inside So Strong" that they sang so beautifully and with such feeling, will to him forever be known as your tune.
Don't let Diana eat all the Easter eggs. Tell her to save some for me!
With much love, Elizabeth R

Hey Ali,

Best thing about today - hearing a voice I've not heard for nearly 20 years.
So great to have that conversation - really meant a lot to me. Thank you so much Diana for taking the time.

While we were chatting I watched our pathetic cat HIDE from a hedgehog in our back garden. Wouldn't get that kind of wimpy behaviour from a dog!

The Wrinklies in Cornwall send their love too.

Mum is working a Marie Curie night tonight and I'm quite sure you are in her thoughts - I know, supposed to be retired, she's nearly 500 years old but just keeps on going!

Dad was telling me how they were both down at a rifle range a couple of weeks back - something to do with the Parachute Regiment association - anyway the upshot is that someone has taught my Mother how to use a gun...what were they THINKING?!?! I've told Dad to keep an eye out for any violin cases that might appear..

Always thinking about you, Blondie.

Lots of love from the Spencers and the Halls.

As she sat on the train to London today, staring out of the window at the beautiful blue sky, she wondered how many other people are thinking about the man…

He makes it so easy for us to share in his life, he is generous with his time even when the events of his day are beyond imagining for most of his readers. When we check in to read the familiar black page, the words are never scary; they simply tell it like it is. The man comes shining through his words, his humour and smile bring the page to life as he tells of apple pie, friends dropping by and safe healing hands.

And we respond to his words, every day the community grows, around the world we check to see how he is doing. Far more of us than leave messages, we read each others words and feel we know each other as we struggle to find the right phrases to convey how we feel.

You are truly special, Ali, you bring people together and your magic rubs off into our lives. We know each other through you, and we stand together, whether we can find the words or not you are constantly in our thoughts.

Hi Ali,
Just wanted to echo Linz's sentiments above. As Victor and I strolled around Wisley yesterday afternoon in this glorious sunshine, we too were thinking of you, and wondering how many others were!We talked about your inspirational courage, and your generosity in sharing your days with us no matter how you feel, and also how amazing your family sound. We don't know you as well as some of the others on here, but you have certainly touched our lives in a big way since we first met you 6 or 7 years ago - Victor and Zac, in particular, are still determined to become ski instructors at some point, thanks to your encouragement! In fact, Zac ( 15 next month!)can't think of a better way to live his life than to fill it with skiing, cycling, surfing, music, food and fast cars!(Not Arsenal, though!)
Anyway, today Victor is off to Valencia for a few days cycling, and you will def be in his thoughts as he goes up those hills and down those dales. And Sophie and I have been so inspired by you that we are doing the Race For Life in aid of Cancer Research UK, with you in our thoughts all the way (5km may not seem like much, but it is a LONG way for lazy unfit souls like us!).
So, we are just a few of the many many hundreds out here who read your blog every day, and wish you well very day. Just wanted to let you know that.
lots of love,
Sandra, Victor, Rosie, Sophie and Zac

What lovely words Linz has said above and we echo every one. You truly are an inspiration to us all and deserve each and every one of our thoughts, prayers and best wishes. You are truly a special person Ali and your magic does rub off into our lives. We do all stand together and you are constantly in our thoughts.

Have a lovely day today Ali, the sun is shining especially for you. Hope we can see you sometime soon, we will wait for your mum's call.

Linz has summed up how a lot of us must feel.

I had lunch at a pavement restaurant in Mayfair today, and thought of Jeanette and you. There was crocodile on the menu so I asked them to make it snappy. I really did and it was delicious!

Enjoy the Arsenal, I think you are there today.

Love to you, Jeanette, and all the Rainbacks.

See you when we get back from Spain.

Hey Ali,

Hope you had an amazing time at the Arsenal today. People at work were very envious and even my husband was a wee bit and he's a true Liver Bird - at least his team is red not blue tho!

We are thinking of donning our bobble hats and comfy shoes and visiting Ashridge this weekend. We will pop by and if you're up for a visit then that would be fantastic. No pressure - I know you're a popular chap.

Got a garbled message from the parents that they've managed to break their phone - and of course mobile signals in Cornwall are patchy to say the least - especially as they've moved to somewhere with only 100 houses in the middle of nowhere. I'm telling you, they shouldn't be left on their own. I'm going to have to break out another pigeon!

Anyway, beginning to babble so will just remind you that...well....wot Linz said.
