Bonjour Everyone

Great to see Ewan again yesterday especially as he was loaded with 4 bottles of wine and a corkscrew and have a good chat. Thanks for the Paal and Gigondas Ewan and thanks for the Barolo Dicky M. We had a glass (well 2 little ones) before lunch of the red Paal-magic-defo our favourite.

My good friend Rachel came this morning-Happy Birthday Rach-and Simon spent the day with me so I'm really happy.

Thanks everyone who's sent flowers or yummy parcels we will try and write soon.

Lots of Love

Great to hear you are enjoying all your yummy gifts and that you had lots of time with Simon. Sounds as though you had quite a good day with a visit from Rachel as well.

It was warm and sunny today so lets hope for more of the same for you Ali tomorrow. Helps to keep that smile on your face.

It was lovely to speak to your mum today so thanks Diana for the chat, it was so nice to catch up with you.

Sleep well Ali and have peaceful dreams.

All our love and hugs to such a special guy plus much love to mum, dad, Jeanette, Simon, Jo and all the Rainback crew.

Hi Ali

Susannah here (of BASI days) - just wanted to say hi and PK pointed me in the right direction. I am still in Scotland, Orn and I stayed when I had my little boy....now one year old and keeping me veeeerrryyy busy. Glad you have been enjoying good company and good wine. Reading your blog brought to mind some great memories.....like a drive to a conference with Roy who was very agitated en route that we MUST find the BIGGEST Supersoakers on the way......and when we got there I found out why! Seems to be a habit..

Keep on blogging!

Lots of love

Hello mate,

Great to hear you are enjoying the finer things in life good food, company and wine. A quick Happy Birthday to Rach aswell, another year older eh!

We are still waiting here for the patter of small feet (1 week overdue now). Belle is doing great (and looking great) but is getting really tired. Its a bit like deja vue as Cara was 2 weeks late and had to be induced, so we've got an appointment on Tuesday morning (if all is still the same) to check them over and decide what they are going to do. I will keep you posted, so keep smiling.

Hi Ali and co

Sounds like you had a great day yesterday and enjoyed your wine! Happy Birthday to Rachel. James is very pleased to see his photo features on the front of this years GAP course brochure! He is now starting to plan his next season despite my attempts at trying to get him to do an apprenticeship! "But Mum you don't know what is is like to wake up every morning and want to be there...." I think a lot of us do. Hope you have a good day and I hope the sun is shining for you down south.

Legacy

You want a piece of me ?
Yes, we want to see you, to hear you, to share with you – but we can’t
We want a piece of you but we know you are tired
We want to talk to you, but we know our loud, noisy voices are not what you need to hear
We want a piece of you, and we need you to know

But
If we look inside, if we try to still that clamouring inner voice, we know we each have a piece of you already,
You have, and continue to give of yourself so freely that we all have our own special moment,
A conversation shared, laughs and love freely given
Shining eyes and warm, strong arms reaching out
Jokes, beers, time spent together

As you walk through life you have attracted us to you,
In that infectious Rainback way.
You have given us all so much, and we each treasure our special moments and memories.

So if the wagons are circled, that’s ok
We can imagine ourselves sitting next to you
Feel the warmth of the camp fire on our faces as we each stare into the flames

And it is warm, the night may be black, but thinking about our own piece of you makes us warm.

Hey Ali,
Great to hear you're having a good weekend. Like you I have spent the weekend with friends - it's great to catch up.
Happy Birthday to Rachel! (Although I am probably a bit late now - doh!)
I picked up my bike for the triathlon & yikes it's scary! It has so many gears I'm not sure how I will actually cycle - I'll be too busy trying to work out which gear I should be in. I've got a week to get organised otherwise I really will look like someone with "all the gear, no idea!" Ha ha!
Back at home with the folks now and thinking of you. All the best.
Lots of love,

Hi Ali

Raising a glass of red to you in the Yorkshire Dales! We are on a Uni reunion staying in a great big house next to the river with no mobile phone reception (wahey!) but a computer and (dial up) internet access so can check up on you. Happiness is a hot bath and a glass of wine after a long walk up and down dale, especially when you have been used to living in relatively flat Suffolk. Thanks for helping me (M) get up the hills.

Enjoy the wine & company,

Love,

Miranda & Alan xx

Hope you've had a lovely day with your family and you sleep peacefully tonight. Good night dear Ali.

All our love, hugs and prayers as always to you and all the Rainback crew.

Hey Ali,

Linz' words are so true. I have lots of lovely memories of you and last night I was sorting through some really old stuff and found an 18th Birthday card from "Diana, Ian, Simon, Alistair and Toby." Each name in a different handwriting except Toby's which was remarkably similar to yours.... We never managed to teach Benjamin how to use a pen. Funny how these little things pop up and make you smile when you least expect them and often when you need them most.

I was also thinking of you and your wine when I was drinking a lovely Italian red this evening with the roast dinner my husband had cooked. Not only does he make me laugh every single day but he can cook too! I think I might be quite a lucky girl after all.

Spoke to Mum this evening and she and Dad send their love to you all and really big hugs for you.

I hope you sleep well, dream peacefully and wake up refreshed and ready for another sunny day.

Always thinking of you.

Lots of love

J-A

Hi Ali

Well first and foremost good to read your having a good time and your still up for a few beers (or wine)

The borough boys got together this weekend as they usually do. The annual hockey tournament this was replaced with a 1 night camping vigil whilst taking in the very local (Chipping Norton!) beer festival! As you can imagine when 11 lads turn up at 2pm having finshed a few slabs of ale and a litre of Rasberry Vodka and ask for £80 worth of beer tokens .... the lady at the tote was very surpised, even more so when we asked for another load four hours later they were begining to get worried .....

You will be pleased to know that we were very responsible and left at midnight as there was nothing left to drink and the locals drove the lads back to the camp site, what a result!!

All the lads had beer for you mate but we lost the tug of war ... not what we used to be I am afraid.

Take care buddy keep smiling

After months of reading your blog, I thought it was about time I added a comment - especially after all this talk about HVSU!

Obviously I was the 'next generation' after you lot but I can still clearly remember you as a magnificent man with your flying machine and Simon nearly thrown off stage by Alex Waggett - very amusing.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and the rest of team Rainback.

Enjoy the wine!

Hey Ali,

Just thought I'd say hi.

I have managed to pierce my feet in several places this evening. I was cutting out a few things while barefoot - there's the first clue - then I dropped my pins, over balanced and stamped down heavily on the pile of sharp little buggers - oooWWWW! Thank goodness my day job doesn't involve putting myself in any kind of danger - I'd be out of work quick as a flash - what an eejit! Red wine and dressmaking is clearly a bad combination!

Anyway, thought I'd share and give you all a giggle. I hope you have had a lovely, pinless day and have enjoyed all your company and some pleasant snoozes.

Still saying the Rosary for you - the Nuns would be proud!

Love you lots, AllyBally.

Hey Ali,

I was talking to someone today about those rucksac/jet pack things, where you wear a jump suit with bat wings and can fly at break neck speed through the air - a great way to get from the top of one mountain to the peak of another...

I can't remember if your plan was to get hold of a few of these human-flying devices and rent them out to the general public, or just to get one for yourself to use as a form of transport.

- anyway, it made me think of you and it made me giggle...

Love and positive thoughts coming your way...

Hey Ali,

Well I hope the weather is better over in Berko than here. It's rotten and it's supposed to be summer! We keep getting "that fine rain, that really soaks you through" as per Peter Kay, then each afternoon it heats up as there is going to be a massive thunderstorm but nothing just more of the fine rain......Oh well. It is England, we SHOULD be used to it. I remember one time when you, me and James White went swimming in the rain - we were wet anyway, I suppose.

I hope you have a great day today and spend plenty of time with your lovely family. You're all always in our thoughts.

Lots of Love

Hello Ali, Jeanette, Diana and Ian,
Wanted to say hello and of course you are always in our thoughts.
Lotti and Matilda are both on my knee admiring you and John in your New Gen cycling gear. I went out yesterday on my bike (in my New Gen top)but after 10 minutes had to peddle home as fast as possible because thunder and lightning were all around me and I must say it is somewhat unnerving.
So pleased you are enjoying lots of goodies. There is nothing quite like a good bottle of wine shared with friends.
Love you lots, Carolyn
