Thursday Morning

Bonjour Everyone

Mum said to me this morning 'While there's life there's hope' which really stuck with me. I suppose while there's warm weetabix, honey nut cornflakes, Maynards Sours and chocolate After Eights I'm alright. So no-one worry we're being looked after.

On Tuesday Jet took me for a spin in the Golf and we went to see the Bouscale family at Lower Farm which was really cool. Thanks Jet for the lift and sorry for my music taste (Music of the Incas) which I know you don't like!

Simon sorry I was asleep when you came but it was wicked to see you (and pizza) and have a good chat and thanks Lucy for the massage

Dad glad we had breakfast together (fry up) yesterday and it was great to see you Rachel thanks for coming hope to see you before your 40th (oops).

Thanks everyone for your support and I'm sorry if I've missed anyone but I think about you all.

Love

Ali x

ps Awrabest-who are you-please let me know.

By the way the picture of me in the bath (nice one Ann and Julia) is exclusive to the Blog and is not to be passed on without a health warning!! (Joke)

Dearest Ali

As usual your blog is inspring to say the least. Your mum is right of course, life is precious and we should never give up on it. You are truly amazing and you deserve all the attention that comes your way.

Great that you were able to get out for a spin in the Golf and visit the Bouscale family. By the way we love the music of the Incas so you have great taste there.

David's mouth watered when he knew you had had a fry up breakfast, not something he indulges in too often but I know he loves it.

Stewart wants to come over to visit you so I've given him your mum's number to see if something can be arranged. I am sure you will both have heaps to talk about.

Have a great day Ali. We will come over again soon but in the meanwhile keep smiling, we love you loads.

All our love and hugs as always

Hi Ali

I am so glad that you are being looked after so well.

Just to say that I am thinking of you and check your blog every day to see how you are getting on.

I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that through your fight with tumour you have enriched the lives of many people and for that we are very grateful.

Keep on fighting. Hope and belief are powerful things

Glad to hear that you are being so well looked after - I think Luce is coming to visit you today but I think she has been told NO CHOCOLATE!! I will come and see you next week and perhaps I can take you for a spin in Chorlton and lets see what I can sneak into my bag for you!

Thinking of you all the time,
lots of love

Hi Ali. Another saying is "where there's a will there's a way",and you are Samson in the will department young man,with or without hair! The scene in the bubble bath coins another, "where there's a willie there's a wa'hey"! Cleopatra never looked so regal.
Keep on keeping on Ali. Awrabest to you and yours. Jason told me about you (all good): I'm his Dad, Rae Gibson. Hope to meet you some time. Awrabest!

Hey Ali - great to speak with you earlier today. Got home tonight having spent last night away on business. Gave my son Harry an extra big hug to remind myself of what is important in life.

It is difficult to predict how you will react to the cards you are dealt in life but I am sure that I would not have the same courage you have shown had I been dealt your hand.

Love always - Julian

Hi Ali
Just to say I've been thinking about you. I really admire the way you have been dealing with your tumour and send you my best wishes.
Don't share your love of Arsenal but they do play better football than Spurs the team I have followed since a boy.
It would be so good to see you in Courchevel again.

Dear Ali - as someone else said we read your blog every day, but don't always leave a comment. Everyone else seems to express their thoughts in so many wonderful words, and I can't think of anything meaningful to say. We are thinking of you all the time.
love as always.

Hey Ali,

Hope you're feeling chipper today. The weather's not great but the garden could probably do with a drink.

Mum and I have left a couple of messages on your phone just to say Hi to you and Parents, but we weren't sure if you were able to acccess your voicemail or not, so didn't want to leave any more.

Let me know when you're free and I'll pop by again. Of course, if it doesn't stop raining by then I'll be bringing hot toddy's instead of Pimms!

Am planning on a reasonably early night tonight as I'm shattered this week. At least 11pm seems early at the moment!

Hope your dreams are sweet and tomorrow is another wonderful day.

Lots of Love

Hey Ali

I think we've finally got this 'leave a comment' thing sussed - Laurent and I are so good at technology it's scary!

We're back in the countryside near Toulouse trying to live the 'good-life' i.e we've got running water and electricity but still got loads to do.

We've finally applied for a passport for Lucas (I told Laurent I would apply for a British one if he didn't hurry up, so that got him moving) so we'll be over to visit you soon.

Thinking of you all

Hope you are enjoying your day. David spoke to your mum for quite a while this morning which was really nice. Before we could arrange another visit she had to dash as the nurses had come into your room but hopefully we can catch up with her over the next couple of days to sort out a time for a visit.

Weather is a bit chilly today but we are sure you are warm and cosy in your room.

Keep smiling Ali, we love you like that.

Hello mate,

First time I've logged on for a couple of days as things have been so busy, but great to read you are still in good spirits (that means smiling) and you know your Mum is right as they always are when it comes to looking out for their boys.

Just reading through the blogs left and great to read the elusive "Awrabest" is Gibbo's Dad looking in on how you are doing and even better that your private massage therapist Lucy has decided to leave her number (only Joking Lucy I'm not a stalker really).

So this week has been bloody brilliant in footballing terms (sadly not the Arsenal) as my fantasy football team, Bozel Wanderers, pipped John T's side to the frineds and enemies title by a mere 3 points (that amounts to 1 goal or clean sheet across the whole season) and did the double by winning my premiershiptitle. Now only the FA Cup tomorrow and it'll be a clean sweep. Then on Tuesday I went along with my father-in-law Dave to watch my second team Bristol City win their semi-final play off match at Ashton Gate against Crystal Palace in a thrilling match decided in extra time. And to top that we got our tickets for the final at Wembly so here we come. There is one proviso though as the final is on Saturday 24th and Belle's due date is Monday 26th (and not forgetting her birthday on 25th) so we have arranged birthing partners to be in place and I will be driving and not drinking so that in the event of her going into labour I will rush back along the M4 and therefore not miss anything.

So that is me up to date and finally I was glad to see you had plenty of bubbles in your bath, take care and keep smiling.

Hi Ali

How fab to meet the Arsenal team (not that I do football - but a buzz for you I bet).
I know St Francis hospice well - a fantastic place with wonderful caring staff. Ros Taylor is someone I will always remember as being a wonderful person.
Having spent a while in a job I was beginning to really dislike I have bitten the bullet and got out of my rut and got myself a new job. I partially blame you - but in a good, inspirational "stop whinging and get on with it" way. Cheers hun :)

Always reminds me of you ali ...

'if' by rudyard kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)

They do say that Mr Kipling wrote exceedingly good poems!
Every man needs a massage therapist, and now every man can call Lucy to get one!!

Keep going, Ali - I'm with you all the way (except for the warm Weetabix! Yuk!)
