Tuesday Morning

Bonjour everyone!

My treatment is at 6.30 this evening so I won't have much to report until then (other than that 'the machines are running late again'). Actually, I'll probably be sleeping when I get back so if I do a short blog now I hope that will suffice. My ears are burning now. They really are. It's pretty much exactly where the radiation goes in so they are flaking, dry and red. The aqueous cream is awesome though (thanks Alison) but I think I'll need to be sponsored by Ecolab to get a few months supply because my ears really are burning! I can't stop mum from keeping rubbing in the cream (or rather won't stop mum). I hope my hair grows back.

Dr Wilson suggested that I might perhaps miss my afternoon sleep and then sleep through from bedtime to morning because at the moment I'm struggling a bit with sleep patterns. I'm currently enjoying falling asleep at 9pm, going through to 4am then nada until my car trip home the next day. So, last night was comical but better.

At 8pm mum and dad had to prise me from the sofa because I was away with the fairies. I tried to call Jeanette but made no sense to her at all and the last thing I remember was Jeanette saying "Put the phone down now!" So, I did and that was it. I woke up so many times but 'slept' through to 6am yippee! Great - can't wait to bring on the day although I can hear rain against my window....again!

7 to go. Paul is taking me today, we'll have a cuppa in Bebos in Welwyn then go and get it done then that's it. 6 is much less than 7!

This is something that my friend Sally wrote on the message...

"There's no thrill in easy sailing when the skies are clear and blue; there's not joy in merely doing things which any one can do. But there is some satisfaction that is mighty sweet to take, when you reach a destination that you thought you'd never make"

Wow!

love

Ali

Morning!

Well your ears should be burning because everyone is talking about you here in the alps! You have such lovely friends who really care about you. I met more of your friends last night at the comedy eve and they all send their love. The highlight though had to be Katie on the microphone in the interval singing rude songs - I think she got the biggest applause of the night!

Well, down to 7, which means only 6 as at the end of today. Think Shrink. You are so nearly there.

Good morning Ali!

I loved watching Charlie and Archie! I am off to school now but will be thinking shrink all day! I wish I was skiing instead of going to school!

Lots of love from Issy Kelly xxx

Hi Ali -

I must agree with Jane Whitham, Si's boys will never make the front row, for a start one of them remembered all his words AND they both danced in time with the music, that will never do !
7 becomes 6 today, yippee

Hi Ali....a little welcome message for when you get back today...6 to go!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!
Have been eagerly catching up on your blog and a delighted to see they have reduced the steroids.
Hope you've managed to get into a better sleep pattern and the rain has stopped!! I can confirm that the Aiguille de Fruit looked like that on Sunday...see piccies on facebook...we skied the Col du Fruit above Lac Tueda...and I put in some turns for you (which you might even have been proud of!) and can definitely relate to your wobbly legs feeling! I was like a new born lamb (thought that'd make you giggle) I was so beasted. So that's the best thing that happened to me on Sunday...and finally skiing Meribel couloir for the first time! Keep focussed you are so nearly there, then we'll all be here for your homecoming.
Big hugs from all at Freeride and everyone here in Meribel, Darren and Emma send their love xxx

Hi Ali

Jeanette is right in what she said, no wonder your ears are burning as so many people were asking about you last night. It was nice to see Jeanette out with us, smiling and laughing! It was a great night, copious amounts of wine was consumed, but you'll be glad to hear I havent puked!

Can't wait to see you Sunday and then there'll only be 3 to go!!

Keep your chin up hon'

Miss you

Lots of love

Rach

Hi Ali.

We're all counting down here with you in Colchester and Cornwall and thinking shrinking.

Try some aloe vera gel from the fridge for those ears - cooling and moisturising.

Best thing that happened to me so far today was meeting my friend for lunch and finding out she's 12 weeks pregnant. Fantastic!

Lotd of Love

Ali,
a quote I found:(David Henry Thoreau(1817-1862)

'Most people live lives of quiet desperation and die with the song still in them'

Well, that's not you and that's not me! Looking forward to a lot more renditions of your song in the decades to come on my boat.

Thinking shrinking and looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Hey Ali,
Small world...there cant be many Pip and Colins living in Christchurch. I guess you know Richard. Well, our families grew up together - I was at school at age 4 with Jim and we lived opposite each other in Rochester. They moved to St Albans, then to Christchuch. My Parents still remain close friends with Pip and Colin! Amazing isnt it? So, thats another excuse for a boozy lunch!
6 to go..........

Hi there Ali,
The best thing that happened to me today was finally skiing with John (my first ski of the season)enjoying blue skies and powder. Just to let you know that in the last five years I have skied less than 10 times and I can still do it. So a few months out for you will not make any difference to your performance, it will just make you more appreciative and determined. I then skied with Bernie and Sam (Ruth´s boyfriend) and we had a think shrinking group powder ski. (just for you)
Your´re a wonderful, insprirational man who we love very much. Counting down zapping days and counting down days until you return. Love Carolyn and John.
P.S. Your nephews are gorgeous.

Dear Alistair,
Thinking & praying for your healing & good recovery.. pleased to hear the treatments are nearly finished... I'll keep taking mine till end of summer.

Talking of marmottes when we went to Col de la Bonette the highest mountain pass in europe (about 1 hour from Isola 2000) we saw a marmotte & I couldn't believe how big it was. (a big, cuddly, cute 17kilo rat)!

Maybe one day I will go to the 3 vallees to do some boarding....I love the photos

God bless
Steve - Cagnes
