Great Day! Wednesday Afternoon

Bonjour everyone!

This has turned out to be a great day. Never mind the BuzzyMachine (we're down to 10 zaps now ha ha yippee!) but it started with my friend Bernie bringing bacon sandwiches for breakkie. I got the all clear from Jeanette that I could have one. He also brought those lovely little cup cakes which didn't last long. Okay, so I had to save one for Nick...doh!
Nick came round and took us to St Albans station to drop off Jeanette. That was the one bad thing that happened I guess - Jet going home. Not long and we'll be back together again soon. Can't wait.
Then we went to Nandos and had a chicken lunch which was scrummy. I didn't have chips or any other nasties so I felt great (okay toffee cheesecake is an exception..right?)
Machines were running late again so we stretched out lunch and got to the Royal Free for 30 mins chat/sleep before zapping. How do I feel? Tired but really, really positive and happy at the mo. I've just had so many lovely mails, and comments that I can't believe it. Over 3500 hits to the blog, countless comments (keep trying, but defo put yourself as anon as it asks but of course sign off with your name, it does work, I tried a few times and seriously if I can do then you all can!) emails, calls and visits. Life is so good to us in a lot of ways. When I first knew what I had then I really did think of dying, longevity of life, what I hadn't achieved yet and so on. It was pretty grim but this blog and all of you helped me. Thank you so much. For a typical example of the support I'm getting from out there, you have to see this youtube clip of my great friend Richard and his 'extended' family in Italy and what they did for me.This brought a lump to my throat...

http://www.youtube.com/dogmad1969

Thank you so much Rich

It's not over yet - we're all Thinking Shrink and have 10 treatments to go. Visualisation when I'm getting zapped are mini space invaders surrounding the tumor and firing into it when the radiation actually gets released. This really works for me (thank you Rachel). Any ideas for visualisation? I'd love to hear from you...

Thank you all. We're fighting a good fight.

Bye bye Jet, see you soon.

Love

Ali

Hi Ali,

Loved the video your friend Rich made. I wonder what think shrink is in italian!?! I'm going to put on my thinking cap re the visualisation. the only thing i can think about at the moment are those cupcakes and bacon sandwiches you were talking about. it's made me feel really hungry!! Whenever i focus on thinkshrink i think of it in time to the music of the guinness advert, the one where the horses come out of the waves as the music and beat builds. i guess i imagine each zapping session building in momentum and merging into a strong force that will shrink that tumor! You'll curse me tomorrow in the zapper when you can't get the guinness ad music out of your head! 10 days and counting.
Thinking shrinking....

Parklife Lyrics...a bit of a Blur

Confidence is a preference for the habitual voyeur of what is known as (parklife)

Who's that gut lord marching... you should cut down on your porklife mate... get some exercise

All the people
So many people
They all go hand in hand
Hand in hand through their parklife

It's got nothing to do with vorsprung durch technic you know...although we do hope the technology (buzzy machine) works!!
===============================
Its all about confidence, 'cutting down on your porklife mate' and getting a little exercise....the real solution is that you need to get off your arse!

But you know this already...hope you enjoy the nutty lyrics and that, with this sound advice, you recover in quick time!

Think Shrink, Best Wishes.

Dear Alistair,
got my virus count back today.... its gone from 13 million per ml
to
Undetectable (maybe zero)
in just 4 months. I must carry on with the nasty medicine for at least another 8 months though. Feeling very irritable but I must say I'm very greatful to have a chance to recover. We both have God to thank....90 percent of hep c sufferers in the world are too poor to get this treatment, Im sure similar in the case of gliomas. Almost finished your treatments now...well done....

Please excuse my deranged sense of humour my attitude has not yet recovered from my mis-spent youth..

Admiration & Love to you, Jeanette & all the Rainbacks

God bless

Steve, Cagnes

Hi Ali
Glad to hear you sounding so positive today. 10 treatments to go is great news - you are nearly there. Loved the youtube from Italy and also watched the xmas one too - made me giggle a lot.

Am trying to adopt the Ali Rainback philosophy on life
"everything I do I'll do it better. I'll do it with so much vigor and energy" On that note had an awesome golf lesson today - have been learning since September and progress has been slow to say the least. But today was a breakthrough - thought a lot about you. The sun was shining and it was just beautiful. Just imagine what it will be like when you get back to the Alps and can enjoy the sunshine in the mountains - can't wait for you to be there.

Everyone sends their love - Hannah was 14 today. I think she was about 6 when you first taught her to ski down The Indians!

Big hugs and kisses from us all.

You´re an absolute inspiration to us all with your guts, determination and appreciation of the good things life has to offer. WEll done you. Only 10 to go and everyone is counting.

Hey bud,

Spare a thought for me tomorrow. They're going to try and operate on my nose.

I just hope they don't fix it so good that I can smell what you humans have been smelling coming out of the bit under my tail for the last year or so!

Dear Ali

Your old neighbour from Canham Close here, Heather. I would like to join everyone in wishing you well and am reading your blog daily. I think your amazingly strong attitude and the wonderful support you have from all your friends and family will see you through. I have joined the think shrink club too. Here is my visualisation for you...

Imagine your strong hands squeezing the life out of the tumour and with each Zapp they squeeze it tighter, choking it like a plant suffocated by a weed.

Best wishes Ali and keep strong for these last few treatments. Love Heather and family. xxx

Hi Ali

Had heard before Christmas you were not well and you, your family and friends were in our thoughts. I spoke to Rachel last week and asked her to pass on our best wishes. She told me about your blog so I decided to do it myself! This is truly inspirational stuff Ali - a collective Think Shrink from the Edwards family. As a 2008Gappie mum I can report they are having a fantastic time in Courchevel (apart from the rain!) waxing and sharpening their skis tonight whilst thinking about the central theme. James nearly didn't get there as he was found to have a knife in his hand luggage! 30 minutes in an interview room at the airport with three police officers was the start to his big adventure! How did it get there - thats another story for another day...

Hi Ali,

Good to hear that you are having some good days and are staying as positive as ever. Although there is a way to go it sounds like you are in the home straight. Great news.

Love to your family.

Dearest Ali

Best thing that happened today was watching the Harpenden Gang Show and seeing you, Si and all our many scouting friends. Just like old times with you noisy lot at the back and Euan waving his baton at you and still as marvellous as ever. It brought back so many memories and singing 'Together' was very moving.

'Together, when we're all together
We know how lucky we are.
The world around us is everything
The sound of music, the songs we sing-
And even from the coldest winter
The warmest summer arrives.
We'll share together, when we're together
The best years of our lives'.

It says it all and the best is still to come for you with Jeanette and your many friends.

Glad you're on the home straight and looking forward to that curry on Saturday.

Love and Hugs

Mum xxx

Hey Ali,

Best thing that happened to me today was going to my friends' birthday party this evening - haven't laughed so much in ages.
We're all counting down the sessions with you.
Thought about zapping the tumour when I was cleaning my garage doors with the pressure washer at the weekend - blasting the dirt away the way the buzzmeister is blasting the tumour away.

Think Shrink

Lots of love

Jane-Anne

P.S Dino - the kitty paws in this house are crossed for you and your nose!

Ali,

It was great to spend the day with you today and I echo your Mums words, it was great to be back 'together' at the gang show. Your positive attitude really is an inspiration to me and a total credit to you mate.

That's how we roll.

10 to go! - Think Shrink.

Love

Fatnick.

Hello mate,
Loving the shirt's you and Fatnick are sporting and appropriate to have DB's number on your backs with only 10 to go. The best thing that happened to me yesterday was having the 20 week scan for our new baby and seeing everything so far so good. You know you are an inspiration to us all, as Arsene is to the Arsenal, so just visualize us scoring more and more goals (especially against Spurs) and pushing on to win the title and many more after that. You take care and keep this positive mental attitude as you know it really does work.
Love to you All,
Russ, Belle & Cara xxx

Part two

The man gets off his bike and sits down in the tunnel, he rests his head against the concrete wall. He is so tired, he doesn’t know if he can go on. He knows that the mountain is stretching above him and it feels like a heavy weight pressing down on him – he closes his eyes…

Think shrink, think shrink, think shrink

Is that his own heart beat or is it a voice? A small voice but a voice all the same. He hears a tapping keyboard, and a worried voice at the back of his mind ‘where is Ali, why hasn’t he updated the blog’ think shrink think shrink. Around the world friends are logging on, trying to make a connection, fumbling with the unfamiliar technology as they rush to leave their words of support. Tap tap tap go the keys, think shrink think shrink. The voices are all different, not all are speaking English, but the message is the same.

The man gathers enough energy to open his eyes, he looks down the tunnel and sees a tiny pin prick of light, was it there before? He is not sure, but the more he focuses on it, the brighter it becomes. He stands up, swaying slightly at first and holds onto the metal frame of his bike. He feels stronger and steadier, he concentrates on the beat and begins to pedal, think shrink think shrink. He is off, heading towards the end of the tunnel and the fresh mountain air, counting down as he goes….
