Bonjour everyone!
Still in bed! I'm just taking everyones advice and sleeping for England. Not long, just 5 to go and then that's it. I must sound like a stuck record (apart from down to 5 days!) but it's all that matters (or rather seems to matter) at the moment. For the last couple of years my friend Martin and I have had a countdown to the end of the season on our laptops. The winter seasons are great fun but tough at work and on May 1st we'd have a small celebration and welcome the summer - which we both love. We both had a giggle about it the other day and decided that we wouldn't countdown anymore. Ever. This is why we now have Best thing Today instead. I prefer that as it means EVERY day matters to you/us/me. You can't get 'em back so have fun as you can.
Nick and Dicky kindly took me in yesterday and the the trip was filled up with the exciting news that Dicky is buying a 39ft yacht called 'Forever Changes' and going to sail her around the world. Wicked! If any of you want to learn how to sail - he's your man by miles. For me it's great to have targets and Jeanette and I are defo going to visit Rich and 'learn the ropes.'
No probs at the Buzzymachine. Just in and out, no delays. 5 to go. Counting on one hand is great you know.
Here is the much anticipated installment from Linz..
The man looks in the mirror and doesn’t recognise the person he has become. An unfamiliar, battle scarred face stares back at him, bearing the marks of the healing treatment. He is not happy with what he sees, so he writes to tell them this and waits for their response…..they read what he writes and they are surprised too, for each of them carry memories of the man that are as clear now as the day he first passed through their lives. As friend, neighbour, colleague, son, or brother, they can see him before them. They write to reassure him, and joke with him, to tell him what they see and how they remember his face. It is not simply the placement of the features, it is how the eyes light up with recognition or understanding, the way the mouth moves as it talks or laughs, the million different ways he responds to those around him. We can see you Ali, for who you are, beyond how you feel right now.
You're a star linz.
Love
Ali
Ps. My brother will try and post a comment that I've had a pedicure. Please ignore him....it's not and will ever be try.
Nice though :-)

I'm sure I can remember a time when you quite happily let someone paint your nails.. maybe you weren't in any state to protest but maybe you have a secret need for pretty toes.
Keep going, only 5 more trips to the buzzy machine.

It worked, you mentioned it, enough said. Enjoy the pampering and I look forward to hearing all about it tonight!!! Love Si
What Linz says is so true Ali.
Hair or no hair, we all know who lives behind those hamster chops! And they are going to disappear fast once we get on our bikes out in the Alps.
You are rounding the last bend now and you have just the finishing straight to go. Extra effort and a final sprint and you will be there. Then it's lots of sleep!
See you later,
Philip
PS Tim P's dad being Richard's godfather ranks amongst the most amazing coincidences I have ever heard.
Hey Ali
Glad to see the sleep, rest, then sleep again message has finally made it through! Hopefully all that rest will give you a little more energy for our visit this weekend - the boys are desperate to see you!
So we're in Dorset, Dicky Marshall is in Dorset, Nick and Lisa are coming to Dorset - feeling the pull?
You take care of yourself, allow your mum to indulge in looking after you (not too much battenburg!!) and we'll see you on Friday.
Much love always
Jo
p.s having no hair has never done your brother any harm!
Morning twinkle toes,
Yes Simone, and I seem to remember that it was pink... just his colour. And I believe we have photographic evidence somewhere...
Ali, by the end of today it will be 26 down, 4 to go. That's hardly anything. Keep going, good times are on the horizon.

Morning
I don't know who Linz is Ali, but wow! What wonderful things she writes and yes, we can see you for who you are Ali, with or without your scars, through thick and thin you are still Ali and always will be. We all love you.
Rach
xx
P.S - I also remember you enjoying a manicure at your place from Jeanette! We have photographic evidence remember!
Keep going buddy. This time next week your life will be getting back on track. As Phil put it you will reach the top of the mountain Wednesday then you will have lots of recovery time. Can´t wait to crack open some champagne with you and Jeanette to celebrate good times.
Love you lots,
CArolyn.
( want to call you honey or darling but thought I´d better leave that to Jeanette)
Ali, bonjour mon brave, I'm a bit off the pace with this blog but it's inspirational to read and to see how much love people have for you. Inspirational, but not surprising, since you're a top dude and not a shabby skier to boot, no matter what they say.
You must be feeling good at nearing the end of your temple torture. Keep resting up and taking care of yourself and then you can start thinking about the good things of life again.
All the best mate,
Paul B
Not many to go, 5 left, yiphee! Just think the finish line is in sight! All that hard work and effort is going to pay off (eating, sleeping and watching TV of course)
Best thing that happened to me yesterday and today was skiing some of the best runs that I have for a long time, fresh tracks each time, hero snow! Mo even put some cool turns in for you.
Stay strong and hang in there as we can't wait to see you over this neck of the woods, hair or no hair!
Lots of Love,
Sally & Mo
Hi Ali
Only 5 buzz's left brilliant the end is really close. You sound so strong amazing how positive you and your family are as well but it must be helping you get through all of this. Reading your blogs has made me focus on all the cool things going on and not get bogged down on stupid negative stuff. Enjoy all the sleep while you can, won't be long till you are back in france, getting the logs, on your skis, your bike, sailing with your mate round the world not to mention all the catch up drinking your friends have planned for you. You won't have any time for sleep!!!
Still thinking shrink for you.
Cheers
Rob
Hi Ali!
Bet you're snoozing the afternoon away just now.. when you read this you'll be one more down and 5 to go - woohoo!! So close to finishing now, keep strong and see you soon ..lots of love Janey x x
Hi Ali
Tim P's Dad and Richard's Godfather sending you lots of love and the power of prayer and positive thought and the knowledge that you will soon be back on your bike again with all the lads.
Brian P.
Hello mate,
So your cross dressing days sound like they have come back to haunt you my old flower. Always take the positives and from all these pictures posted on the blog you are looking rather fetching in your ever growing array of wigs.
Only 5 to go is great mate, so sock it to the Buzz Bandit and hightail it out of there and we'll look forward to seeing on Indiens very soon. Think Shrink and keep your pecker,
Russ, Belle & Cara xxx
Ali baby
i am singing at the top of my voice "5 zappy machines" to the tune of 5 gold rings in the 12 days of christmas... try it ... its fun!
big love to my new hero
Tim
Ali,
You (and Linz) are an inspiration to us all.....the only count down that matters is your buzzy sessions.
Best thing that happened today was Amy skipping out of her first day at Nursery school and saying she wanted to go again!(phew)
Hope your ears are bearing up,
Love Clare (Webster)
