Tuesday

Dear Friends,

How can we honour our wonderful Ali? How can we know him better?

His passion for life, adventure and ability to touch everyone around him has given us so many precious moments.

We all have a special time that we hold close to our hearts, a tale to tell that we will recall to him with tears and laughter next time we meet.

We would love to share those treasured memories of Ali, your ‘standing on London Bridge in your boxer shorts’ moments! Please print and send us that photo with a short explanation so that we can create a memory board for us all to enjoy.

Love

Jo and Team Rainback

Team Rainback,

I will get the Ali rain dance picture to you, taken in Switzerland in the middle of the mountains on a HVSU trip to Adelboden.. It was Ali all over, entertaining, smiling, laughing and making sure everyone was on top form.....

Dearest Ali

We haven't stopped thinking about you and cherishing the time we have spent with you.

All the comments on this blog show what a very special person you are and will continue to be in our hearts forever. Y

You have not really left us, you are there watching over us and when we get to the top of the mountain we will feel you there with us, every run, every turn, every chairlift ride will bring us closer. The beautiful mountains will always hold cherished memories of Ali Rainback. We will miss you so much Ali but we take so much comfort from the fact that we were able to share some of your short life and each of those precious times will stay with us forever. Your mortal suffering is over and now you can enjoy the peaceful path you are on.

Sleep tight Ali with sweet and peaceful dreams forever.

All our love and big big hugs forever.
The Conways,
Chris, David, Stewart, Jo, Freya, Sarah & Daniel xxxxxx

My very dearest and most special friend Ali,

It is so very sad to have finally gotten the inevitable news. It is hard to find words that can begin to describe how we all feel and our deepest sympathies go to your family and close friends. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Ali, you became the brother I never had. A best friend through thick and thin. Although you were the younger one, and some possibly saw me as the mentor in our relationship, what I learned from you my friend is astounding. Your life lessons to me will help me live a better life. It will be a true honour to continue this small part of your legacy. From the day we met in Tignes training for the Capa, through our time together building the ski school, we had many frustrations and many more joyous moments, I thank you for sharing all those years with me as a best friend and business partner. I shall miss you dearly.

Love always until we meet again and God bless,

Tom

Ali, I will never forget the first time we played 'Halo' on the computer, we laughed so hard our stomachs ached! I am so sad that I will never see you again, but with memories like these, every time I think of you, it makes me smile and you lift my spirits.Soar high and be at peace.

Dearest Ali - while we have often been geographically separated over the 15 years that we have known each other, I held your friendship close to my heart. I still remember the day that we met when you walked through the door of the house we shared in Austria. I will forever cherish the memories of the times and the laughs that we shared, from the many days we spent skiing to the one word sms insults. Brinda and I will miss you dearly. I am a better person for having known you.

To Diana, Ian, Simon, Jo and Jeanette, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Love - Julian

i only knew ali through the industry and didn't know at all about his illness. i feel so sorry for his family and friends.

my main memory of ali was when he sent graham bell seething when he beat him in a head to head slalom at one our of races! :-)

Yeah and Graham was on factory slalom skis and Ali had a really old pair of Ten Eightys and he still totally whooped him.

That was a brilliant moment!

Dear Ali & Team Rainback

I heard the tragic news of Ali's passing away at the airport. I was saddened by the news. Our thoughts go out to you at Team Rainback in this most distressing time.

I am not very good with words but I know that when I first met Ali I had met a very very special person. I am honoured and happy that I was able to be a friend and my life will be better for the experience.

I have so many memories from the first meeting in Martin's car on the way to Andorra for BASI courses to the last time I met him some 6 weeks ago.

Ali I will miss you (as will everybody else). I will miss our football chats, I miss your practical jokes, I will miss your smilling face whenever you came to visit or when we met up, and I will miss skiing with the best skier & teacher I ever knew.

Rest in peace mate and till we meet again I will think of you.

Keep strong Team Rainback and remember you can be proud to be family and fiancee of this very very special man.

Although I did not know Ali for as long as some of you, every time I met him he said or did something that stayed with me and I can still chuckle at some things he said. My thoughts go out to those who knew him the best and I hope you can find comfort in the knowledge that he was such an inspiration to all that crossed his path. Sleep well Ali.

What a brilliant story from Iain and Zoe above! Love it! So many amazing things by so many people. Ali really was a special man.

I think the memory board is a great idea - that's going to be a sight to behold!
I don't think we have many actual pictures of Ali. Mostly they are stored up in our memories, but we will dig out the few we do have. They will show an Ali from a long time ago with a shaggy blond head and no doubt a very mischievous expression. While the hair won't be familiar to many I doubt the look oh his face will have changed much over the years!

When I was driving to work yesterday (late as always), I was thinking of when I went to see Ali at the hospice and suddenly I was grinning like a loony! You might say he's gone, but he's not really. He's still around, making us smile.

Thinking of you all.

Lots of love

J-A
