Bonjour everyone!
4 days of radiotherapy to go! Yippee. I'm planning the 'Great Escape' with Phil as I write. I just can't wait to get home. Don't worry, if you're ever bored then no probs because I aim to keep the blog going for sometime with some recent photos and so on. I hope it goes like this....
Finish radiotherapy next Wednesday. Rest for a couple of weeks and see how we go. When I feel better then head back to France for some more rest. I'm under strict orders not to do anything and believe me, I can't or won't. After 8 weeks I need to go and have a scan and meeting with Dr Wilson and the gang. That's when we find out that everything is going to be fine. If not we fight the next fight....together? I hope so. I've taken so much positiveness and happiness from the blog that it's kept me going in a great way. I'm glad that you're on the journey with me. Makes me feel much better knowing that my friends and family are with me. Thank you.
Thanks for the lift up Dad (sorry for eating all the jelly babies) and sorry I nearly missed you in the hospital Phil, but great to see you.
Now, I have been trying visualisation on the BuzzyMachine and mostly it's been going well until I pictured Dicky and Nick sitting on the big guns pounding away at Mr Tumor. I don't know if laughing is good but I can't concentrate on that one anymore!
I need a bit of help from all of you for my last 4 zappings. Sorry it's a bit late but I've been doing fine for visualisation until now.
My favourite is Rachel's - imagine the old Space Invaders game in a circle around Mr T, pounding away, shooting, making him smaller.
My last one will be everyone of you holding hands in a ring and running in together jumping on the nasty thing. That should do it.
Physically? I'm okay but my eyes are a bit scwiffy...again. I thought that was the tiredness but it seems to hang in there regardless. I'm struggling typing (my lovely assistant, Jeanette will correct for me... :-) but hopefully that will sort itself out. I just want to be back to normal. Thats it. It's been a few months now but I just want to be bacl to normal. I do want to ski, cycle, and run. When I do you'll all know about it....photos, blog, the lot. Never fear!
Alison, my lovely assistant/nurse got engagd on Monday so you have to join me in congratulating her and Dave...awesome! Thanks for not sticking in the needle too hard yesterday and we'll take a wager on my cholesterol?
Love
Ali

ok Ali - really quick one before I take Phoebe to school. Imagine all the New Gen instructors standing in a line across a really steep run - all your non skiing friends standing a the bottom looking up. The team are going to be practicing tight turns with a difference - every pole plant is a dagger in the heart of Mr T. Bang - off they go, in perfect harmony, turn, turn, turn - stab, stab, stab as they use their poles like spears in the snow - the crowd at the bottom are shouting and whooping, turn, turn, stab, stab - you can see them in your mind, you are so proud, they look so good, the sun is shining, turn, turn, stab, stab - the whole team working together for you.

Ok being one of the people at the bottom of the hill I don't really know what Linz is talking about with the turning business - been spinning round in the study instead - don't know if it's the same but I'm there in spirit. Immobilise your feet with two planks of wood then hurtle down something steep and cold at speed with just a couple of skinny sticks to defend yourself....maybe when you're better I'll let you teach me how that can possibly be anything other than utterly terrifying!
In the meantime imagine smashing a bowl of rice crispies with your fist everytime the machine buzzes - a little violent I agree, but very satisfying! By the time you're finished there'll be nothing left but dust and you can get on with this skiing malarky!
Hope today goes well and you have a lovely restful weekend. I'll be spreading the think shrink message in the North as I'm off to see my in-laws.
All the best

Thinking shrinking for the blasting..

wahey, only 4 to go - that's nothing :))))) looking forward to seeing you over in France soon.
Couple of visualisations - clay pigeon shooting, bang, bang, bang, bang and it smashes into smitherines or slightly more genteel, a mouse nibbling away at a piece of cheese till it's all gone - think that one came to me because of all the hamster comments yesterday, hehe!
great to hear that you'll be keeping up the blog too. Love reading it and great to see you and everyone being so positive all the time

Well done - amazing - by the time you read this (providing my dear daughter got you to the hospital on time today!) - you will only have 3 to go - yippee. I think for visualisation, apart from Linz's brilliant suggestion this morning, I can only liken it to the marathon when I did it a few years ago. We only ran 26.2 miles and you will have achieved 30 sessions - so at about 22/23 miles you get to the Tower of London - and every muscle in your body is really hurting and aching and you have to run over the cobbled stones - ouch is not the word - it is so painful and requires so much extra effort that you don't think you have got left in you....but you go on because you can visualise the finish line so you trek on along the embankment, running with people crying, laughing, bleeding, limping, hobbling, into parliament square, past buckingham palace and then you turn the last corner and head up the Mall - the home stretch and you can suddenly see the finish line. So for you on Wednesday picture that finishing line, and lining the whole of the side of the Mall and at the other side of the tape are all of your friends, from all over the world, yelling your name and cheering for you. You go across the line in record time, turn off the stop watch and counter.......fall into our arms........mission accomplished....we have zapped the bas---d into oblivion. You may rest!
all our love, julia, jumbo, luce and of course Hugo xx

Reading your blog has became an essential part of so many peoples day. Did you know that you first started blogging way back in June 1983? You were in charge of the Kimpton Scouts Cheetah Patrol Diary! I quote from it now -
We met outside Kimpton School at 720pm dressed in Old Clothes and were blindfolded. Our patrol went in Mr Barnes van and were dropped of in a secret place, and had to find our way with a map and compass. Peter got stuck in the mud because he didn't wear boots and made us all laugh a lot!
It makes very interesting reading I can assure you, just like your current blog.
Keep your spirits high and you know that hundreds and hundreds of people are thinking about you.

Hi Ali,
Did you ever play with the talc when you were a kid and spray it on the bubbles left in the bottom of the bath when it drained? It's AMAZING. They just disappear, shrivel up...so try if for fun, then use it as a good visualisation......big kiss xxx
Hey Ali
The Space Invaders visualisation was a really good one. Here's one I've come up with.
We're all Rocky and we're fighting Mr. T. All of us, your friends, colleagues, family against Mr.T. He doesn't stand a chance. 3 swift jabs with the left and then wham! an uppercut with the right. JAB, JAB, JAB, WHAM!JAB, JAB, JAB, WHAM! And Mr. T is out for the count. The referee counts him out.....4, 3, 2, 1 and 'he's outta there'! Cue Rocky music.
What do you think? I'm going to use this visualisation while playing the boxing game on the Wii tonight.
Hang in there babe. Not long now. A couple more rounds...

Hi Ali
Great news about your last session being on Wednesday!
To keep the weight gain up, you will need early morning training sessions followed by lunch followed by high tea. All training sessions will take place at Bebos. We can't let you return to France unless you have attended all sessions!
Just to let you know, we have cancelled your GT3 order and placed one for a 72ft predotor today at London Boat Show.
Love and best wishes
Paul, Amanda, Emma and Georgia
