Hey folks.
Do you feel good? Has the best thing happened to you yet today? Keep it going, it works and it really rocks! Write it down and it's there forever.
Mine? Up early, cooked breakfast, walk the dog, home for pork and beans lunch mmm, Jeanette and Phil playing Backgammon, me having a timely and much needed snooze, cold outside, warm inside. Life is good.
That's all great and would count towards the best thing but for me it really does have to be the huge amount of people that are contacting us via this blog and sending their love, positiveness and best wishes. From NZ (keep it coming gman!) to Bellentre (C you're a star), to S in Verbier (thanks pal) to J (the poet!) and S in Cagnes (we'll see Isola together one day) the list is endless. I would love to say hello on the blog but have been recommended that it should not be two way.
Please, please keep the messages coming, the strength we gain (I say we because it does extend to our family and friends) is limitless and the positiveness helps beat this thing.
I still believe that in this happening some good will come from it. If it was someone else suffering from this we would never have been part of this and perhaps this blog would never have taken place. We're all in it together and we'll get through it together. I couldn't wait to tell you that tomorrow is half way through the treatment!!
Love to you all and Happy New Year
Love
Ali

WooHoo! Happy New Year!
Walking the dog?! I KNEW there'd be a dog. Think Rainbacks, think dog! That didn't sound terribly flattering, but you know what I mean! I'm guessing a pointer?
Just been trying to think of the best thing that happened to me today and realised there are SO many good things that happen to me each day that I can't single out just one.
Finishing a suit for a friend, making some invites for my cousin's wedding, having a glass of red wine brought to me by my husband while HE cooks roast beef with LOADS of yorkshires, talking to my Mum and Dad on the phone for ages, checking out the footie result (c'mon!)Such simple things, I agree, but all made me happy and made 6 other people smile too - so maybe THAT is the best thing that happened to me today.
I can tell you the worst thing that happened to me today quite easily and that was realising that I have now finally finished all of the Christmas chocolate and we had a lot of Christmas chocolate! You know what this means - tomorrow the diet starts and even worse the dreaded exercise!!!
Things do happen for a reason AliBally. I don't know what this one is but I am glad it's given me the opportunity to be back in touch with you, Simon and all your family and to see how you are and what you've been up to.
I hope 2008 is a happy and healthy year for you and yours and the start of even better things to come.
Sending much love to you and all of your lot.
Jane-Anne & all of my lot!
Hi Ali - it's your friendly neighbourhood (well ex-neighbourhood) ThinkShrink wishing you all you could ever want for 2008. This will not be your annus horribilis. You will never guess where we saw the New Year in! OK I'll tell you -whisper it - in the Boot in Kimpton. Roberta who used to live at 2 CC and her husband have take it over and this was their first New Year. It wasn't bad at all - at least we didn't have to drive home. Keep smiling love we are all thinking for you.
love LizH
Looking forward to seeing you in 2008 Ali. Just got home having done a torchlight descent on the Face de Bellevarde - definitely my top moment for today - I loved it. Great to hear the buzzing is half way through. stay strong mate.
heres to shrinking,
Paul
Happy new year to you Ali and Jeanette and the Rainbacks. Jayne and I were really happy to see that you were at home for Christmas, great to see the photos.
We were down in Corfe, walk on the beach followed by champagne and smoked salmon sandwiches in the cold-very invigorating and how lovely to be with the family.
Don't know about the best things from last year...too many to list but here's to a happy 2008 filled with love and smiles.
Big kiss to you all
Sonya
Hi Ali,
Happy New Year to you, Jeanette and all the family!
Glad you had a good day - and talking dogs, whose is it? Have you taken in a stray ....? Does he/she have frequent flyer points earned between the UK and France?
Glad you are sounding so upbeat - we are all with you in ThinkShrink! Great you've reached the half-way point, you're on the home run from tomorrow then.
Let us know when you enter the Tour de France ... in the meantime, happy cycling!
Hoping 2008 brings you everything you wish for -
with our love, L & R
Great 24 hours with you and Jeanette, Ali.
Best thing today? Having to kick you upstairs to bed at 1.30 a.m having stayed up to see New Year in!
You are a mighty man and we are all feeding off your strength as much as you feeding off ours.
With love,
Philip, Diana and all at Lower Farm
(including Dino Dog - sorry about smells - must have been the beans!)
Hi there,
Ali mate your´re the star and every day you are shining brighter.
The best thing that happened today was listening to my children giggling lots whilst sledging in Vallandry with John and brother Dave.
Lots of positive things are coming out from your illness for me and no doubt for all your friends and family. The first is realising how important family and friends are to us all and the second is that I realise how important it is to stay in touch with friends old and new letting them know how important they are.
Lots of love to you, Jeanette and family. See you soon, CArolyn.
Hey Ali
Just wanted to drop you a big thinkshrink styleeee Happy New Year.
Hope that you are picking up all the big positive thoughts that are being sent to you from this side of the pond - sounds like you managed to stay up long enough to see in the New Year (unlike most of us here) - guess you really are taking all the positive energy and using it well - keep it up!
Cheers (for now)
James (Redpath) and all the rest of the Loonatics
Happy New Year to you all.
The best thing that has happened to me (so far) today is waking up the split second before I fell out of bed.. in time to stop myself landing on the floor with a bump! Another proof that the body is amazing..

Happy New Year to you, Jeanette and both your families. The best thing that happened to me today was reading that you are half way through your treatment and catching up on your blog. It's great that you still sound positive and I know you can beat this. 2008 will be the best year yet and i'm sure all the good times you'll have this year will be as good, if not better than last year. Lots of love, Simone x
Hi Ali,
Mum and Dad Haller send Happy New Year Wishes to you all.
You make us feel very humble by how you are coping with this and I know it is not easy but with the love and support of family and friends you will get through this.
The best thing that happened to me today was waking up to another day. Sounds daft but by waking up we know we are still alive and with those we love.
So keep going Ali. Every step you are a little nearer to your goal!
With our love.
Bridget and Richard. x
Hi Ali,
Happy New Year fella! Just worked out how to send you a message and its all gone French on me. So instead I will be s'inking le shrink.
I think Nicks mentioned it, but mum's had a word with the Abbott on Caldey Island. Without meaning to get all god-bod on you, there is now a daily prayer on your behalf at the monastery. And those monks are pretty influential
with the man upstairs. Thought you might like to know.
Keep strong old boy. You're doing such an amazing job of all this.
Hope to see you very soon. Will head up your way soon as.
Toby and Ally
Hi Ali,
The best thing that happened to me today was to get back to work! Apart from getting back to my aircraft (geek!), I have not been able to access my computer at home and therefore not been able to read your blog. Started at 9 and now it's home time. Good, day one finished!!!. Thinking Shrink all the time!
