Saturday Evening

Hello folks

I'm sorry, this is going to be short. I can't see too good so I'm making mistakes when typing because my eyes are scwiffy again, This happened last Saturday and I guess it is a combination of all the radiation in the week and just being tired. We went for a super walk today with Rob, Andrea, Tim and Dino over the Brocket Estate. I'm getting a bit fitter but it kind of ruins it when everything is double vision. I can still eat though haha.

The other horrible thing is when I go for my sleep and wake up I'm really, really exhausted. So much so that I can't move. It's like something has taken all your energy away and you simply can't move...at all. This takes about 30 mins and then you wake up properly and can do things. It's scary beyond belief.

So, two not so nice things but we knew all this was going to happen. I'm focussing on the good and it will come. Funnily eoungh I'm sitting in bed talking about my life and how long it could be with Jeanette, but at the same time in Courchevel today I would have my busiest day of the season as all our gap students come in today. It's funny how your focus changes.

So, the best thing that happenend to me today was marmite on toast followed by a lovely walk in the English countryside. What was yours?

Love

Ali

Hi there Ali,
I missed your blog yesterday because I went across to Courchevel on a girls night out. I stayed with Marie and 7 girlies went out for George Beattie´s birthday. We raised our glasses on serveral occasions toasting Thinkshrink. I was with Jane Cummings, George, Marie, Celia (george´s sister) Ingrid and Issie. Iñm sure your ears must have been burning because we talked about you and they all send their love. After dinner we went next door to the Bubble and surprise, surprise there were loads of New Gen folk enjoying listening to a band in a smoke free environment. Good to see Tom in his ski pants 1.00am and great to speak S..t with Matt Cooke.
Enjoy a lovely relaxing weekend with Jeanette and will talk again soon. LOL Carolyn
The best thing that happened to me today was a lie in at Marie´s with no kids!!!!

Hi Ali

The best thing about today was taking Phoebe to see Enchanted - a new disney fairytale where the animated princess is thrown down a well and ends up in New York as a 'real princess'. It was magical and we both really enjoyed it (although the dragon at the end was scary and I had to keep whispering that fairytales always have happy endings).

Thinking about you, when you have that scary 30 mins each time you wake up, try to imagine that you have set your alarm earlier than you need to get up and let it be a good feeling that you don't have to jump out of bed immediately - you know the feeling you get when you wake up thinking it's a work day, and then remember it is a day off.

Hey Ali! Just back from a cheeky week in Courchevel to catch up with all the guys from last year, sorry to here your news, and missed seeing you about the place! Doesn't seem like a year ago that you were welcoming us bunch on to the gap course! Thoughts and prayers are with you mate. Wishing you all the best in 2008, and will see you back out there next season. Keep up the fight :-)

Hi Ali
Best thing that happened to me yesterday was knowing that we had managed to drag the restaurant through New Year week and come out of the other side!! Its that hard time for everyone when the staff are new, and some of them injured and things are breaking down, but still the clients of that particular week probably have the highest expectations of any week of the season...so there it was, and now we can try and settle into the rest of the season proper.

Its a shame to see the rain coming down in Meribel today, the bit of snow there was has changed to slush. But hopefully its still snow up on the hill.

Only 13 to go......

Hi Ali

Funny how when you come to type a message you can't think of anything to say, (well maybe I can't)
Anyways lets get down to it, yeah I know Arsenal are doing well with a few kids! but long way to go, and to be honest it's good to see the top teams playing good football again, unlike some other teams we know!

Best thing that happened to me today was finally getting a seat at the bakery!

keep it up! sending you loads of posotive vibes!

Hi Ali
Just got back from Gang show technical rehearsal - nothing changes - Ewbs yelling at everyone, tap dancing still not perfect etc etc. However, everyone is talking about the fact that if you are well enough you are coming along on Wednesday. Hope you do feel well enough - remember you up on the stage!!! I won't be there I am afraid as I am away at a boring work conference but I really hope you are up to it and enjoy the evening - it will be another good one. Hang in there with the treatments - thinking of you!!

Hey Ali

Emily and Matt here (as Matt has still not managed to make any of his own messages appear!!).. We wondered which day was better to come and see you next weekend. Matt's flight back is mid-afternoon on Sunday. Can just be a quick pop if your pressed for time, but definitely want to see you if you're around.

Congratulations on reaching half way.. now the number of dates with the buzzymachine is getting smaller.. happy days.

thinkshrink and love to you and Jeanette

p.s. Matt is teasing the new girl gappies, telling them they will have to eat lots of cake to get through the course and making them scared... you need to give him a stern talking to.

Hi Ali,

Reading through your blog got me thinking of some of the fun times we have had over the years....skiing in Austria, cycling through Melbourne (which direction is Melbourne?), watching Wimbledon, dodging 50,000 mad Austrians at the Hahnenkamm, drinking whisky in Edinburgh, watching the last Concorde flying over London, walking through Hertfordshire, skiing in France .......

Look forward to adding to the list in years to come.

Take care,

Julian

Hi Al,

The best thing that happens to me today hasn't happened yet as it's been rubbish so far. I hate Mondays..

Visualise the buzzy machine as a sea of Friday afternoons crashing onto a shore of Monday mornings and the tides coming in, it's coming in. I feel better already - it's nearly lunchtime.. lunch is probably the best thing that will happen to me today, i think i'll have a curry!

cheers,

rich

hi Ali
best thing that happen to me yesterday was to teach these 2 russians girls ( 3 and 6 years old) and being able to ski down the "truite" all together after 3 hours on the tow rope in Mottaret.
the russian family is very friendly which is so unusual...as you ve probably heard it s been rainning in meribel but we finally got a bit of snow at the top.
loads of gaz explosions from the gazex for the avalanches...makes me jump every time...
i ve just open les rideaux this morning to see rain...yukkkkk...
will be a long day...7 hours teaching...and phisiothearpy tonight for my ankle.
still sore when i put my ski boot first thing in the morning and then gets better except when someone falls on it......martin foot is getting better too and fingers crossed he will try to ski next week end.i hope you ve received the chrismas package from meribel team.
i m thinking of you and jeanette very often.
see you very soon.

Hi Ali,

I am keeping track of your progres on a daily basis. You are over half way there.
My sister went through a similar experience (i.e brain tumour, radiotherapy etc) last year and she back to work this month.

Hi Ali

Starting to get into Gang show now - Had the first band regarsal yesterday (sunday) and the dress rehearsal this evening with Ewan and all the usual crew.

We have a Turberville in the cast again - Oliver is doing his first year in the Cub section - should be exciting (he is David Beckham!!!)

Have a crap cold at the moment but will come and see you when I have shifted it unless you manage to get to the show - If you do let me know.

All the best

Best thing that happened to me on Saturday was taking my wee girl swimming and seeing her jump for the first time (well her knees bent not sure if there was much air time though) off one of the steps into the swimming pool. She was totally chuffed with her self and as she emerged from the depths she shouted MORE as loud as she could, kicked her way back to the side and of course repeated numerous times. Teaching her to say thinkshrink sounds more like tinkhink at the moment but hopefully will help. Take care.

Hi Ali, I Think you'll find that the sound of the BuzzyMachine is the A10 Thunderbolt's 30mm GAU-8/A Gatling gun firing 3,900 rounds a minute popping a cap into the Arse of that MF!
