Bonsoir tout le monde!
I just had to get on the blog because today was great and I wanted you to know about it. It's 8pm and I'm in bed absolutely exhausted. I was up at 4am doing bits and bobs and I felt fine - my eyes were not scwiffy and I wondered if it might be okay for the day. Si came and picked me up and took me over to the bungalow to have breakkie with Jo and the boys. I did but fell asleep on the sofa for an hour. Back over to mum and dads to meet Franny and Rachel who came down from Hinckly to meet me. I felt the best I felt since before everything.
I'm so excited that little things are happening slowly, so slowly that I am returning to me. I hope.
Rachel, Fran and I went out for lunch and started planning about New Generations 10th birthday surf trip to Croyde Bay on 11/12/13th Sept this year. Wanna come? I'm so excited that we're talking about it. Lunch was awesome and Phil and Diana came and joined us and we were all on top form. I felt so much better.
Exhaustion or some kind of massive tiredness hit me then (it's okay we had already sorted out the bill, I can't use it as an excuse yet but watch out....I might!) Had to br driven home from he Bull in Wheathampstead. I could hardly get up the stairs! Slept like a baby until 8pm. I still can't get out of bed but I will because mum and dad have recorded Ski Sunday YIPPEE!!!!!

Hi there matey,
A few days have passed since I wrote due to the Thomas family going to Les Gets for a skiing weekend. We stayed with some ex Andorran friends and met up with many more. Great to have a group ski. The best thing was getting Matilda on ski´s for the two days. We enjoyed the free magic carpet there and some beautiful skiing through the Indian park, complete with some attractive Squaws!
Tomorrow Lotti turns five and we both feel that is a milestone. She really is comfortable on ski´s now which is a buzz.
Three to go.....I think 100´s of people are counting down with you and I imagine the energy being pumped to you on Wednesday will feel like those two big cannons being fired!!!!

Been in Wales for the week in beastly mud and oomska with no web access, but kept updated via the occasional mobile signal. Have just enjoyed a Ali Omnibus (far superior to the Eastenders one). Glad to be back for the countdown. ALL THE BEST!

Night Night Ali it was great seeing you over the last few days, the boys loved showing off to you and Charlie is now asking for a 'big bike like Uncle Ali's' for his birthday. If you have a copy of that photo of you on your bike he would love it!!

Nearly there and all your friends are cheering you on like the Arsenal crowd did yesterday at each of the goals, one for each of your next three treatments. Keep focused, you are going to win: that blunderbuss I mentioned a couple of weeks back has blown Mr. T to bits and your last three treatments will sweep the bits away for ever. The start of the next chapter
The man knows he is coming to the end of this stage, the road tunnel is getting lighter and he can see the daylight at the tunnel exit. He was so excited, but now he feels nervous and he slows his bike down, gets off and starts to walk. He stops for a moment and looks back up the tunnel, the darkness is familiar now, he has seen and heard things that were beyond his wildest imagining but they have become common place. The sunlit world beyond is not so easy to reenter….
As he gets to the mouth of the tunnel the sun feels warm on his face and the road is solid beneath his feet. He squints his eyes, but they adjust quickly to the light, so he sets one foot in front of the other and walks along the road. He is joined by friends, someone takes his bike, another takes his hand. They walk along together, slowly at first, enjoying the sun and the fresh air.
When he turns to look back the tunnel is far behind him, he didn’t realise he had come such a long way. He picks up the pace, and listens to the everyday conversations that flow around him. He has rejoined his old life without even noticing. An old friend who he hasn’t seen for a while calls out to him ‘Hey Ali, I haven’t seen you around, how are you doing?’ The man smiles, there is no need to tell his friend of the darkness he has left behind, so he simply says ‘I’m ok, I really am ok, let’s get together soon.’ And he walks on….

Home stretch now! Always feel like I negelct you when I'm away from the computer for my day off etc..have to have a good read to catch up! Go on we'll let you have Jeanette back for a bit :) You'll be able to celebrate your last treatment with her yippee!

By tomorrow you will only have 2 treatments left. You have done so well and you are an inspiration to me and I'm sure to everyone around you.
I've just read what Linz wrote and it really moved me. Wow, it truly captures the mood and the moment perfectly.
I know you met up with some of the BASI lot today. Gutted I'm not there to see you, but I'm sure they'll pass on my very best to you. Don't let them tire you out, especially Ros. She tires me out every day!

PS. I did the boxing game on the Nintendo Wii on Saturday after too much wine and I pummelled Mr T into Oblivion. The kids were making fun of me 'cos apparently I wiggle my hips while I'm punching (doesn't everyone?). I must be unfit though because my arms are really quite sore today. Good for the bingo wings, though. x

Just been given the blog info from Deirdre and Martin. Although you have often been in my thoughts I am so pleased to be able to join you in 'virtual' person for the home straight. Am proud to be part of the stamping ring of friends you have planned for the last buzzy machine visualisation and will put on my ski boots to make sure I stamp especially hard!
Seeing the photo of you in your mask reminded me of my Mum and her mask for her brain irradiation. Never one to be straight forward she had two masks made for her. The first in readiness for her treatment, the second for when treatment actually started - which was after she had won her division at the dancing World Championships. The first mask no longer fitted and her nurses told her it was because after retaining her title her head must have got bigger! Try not to think about the mask story on Tuesday and Wednesday in case it makes you laugh at the wrong time ;-) But do, if you like, picture a lively and bloody minded 60 year old who didn't let a tumour get in the way of going to the USA to successfully defend her world title. (Though she did increase her usual amount of wig tape to make sure she didn't loose her hair during the spins).
Am right now channeling all the negative energy my job is currently generating into thinking shrink. At the same time am channeling all positive thoughts (blue sky, winter sunshine, good friends) into the buzzy machine. More power!

Two more to go!! Been away from a pc since Friday and have really missed the Ali updates. SO glad it's all nearly finished and you'll soon be able to get on with your life again. If you go down to Polzeath do give my parents a ring as they are about 4 miles away in Trelights and would absolutely love to see you again.

I was thinking about how many people who say on your blog that you are an inspiration, and you truly are, and always are Ali in everything you do!
It was wonderful to spend a little time with you on Sunday, it's a privilege. Can't wait to see you back out here.

You are definitely on the home stretch now with only two to go, we will be thinking of you on Wednesday 'think shrink' and saying your goodbyes. It was so good to see you on Sunday when you were on great form - party in September sounds a fab idea. This website has been great, and you have been amazing.
