Sunday Morning

Bonjour everyone!

Cor, I didn't realise how much the radiotherapy gets to you. Saturday is defo an off day because I think it's just the cumulative effect of the radiation that hits you. I was a bit embarrassed because Phil, Tim, John, Dino and myself went for a walk around Verelamium Lake and I had to sit down half way round because I was out of breath. No kidding. My legs were like jelly when I got back to the car (and I fell asleep in the car on the way home...again!) But it was super to get out, have some fresh air, see the sun and have a chat with the lads.

I'm sleeping really erratically now and I'm tired pretty much all the time. I could just about get up the stairs to bed last night, sleep for 4 hours and then awake for 4. I've discovered BBC iPlayer which is fantastic and so I'm watching re runs of Qi in the early hours! See, something good has come from this little bit of bad.

8 days to go. I'm surely counting the treatments. Middle of next week and we're done.

I know Think Shrink will work. Cor, it has to after all this hassle and zapping. They're doing it for a very good reason and that is that this WILL WORK.

Speak tomorrow

Love

Ali

Good morning Ali, you are early today. Cathy Hendry here (up early with the kids). I saw Zed yesterday sporting a new gen office girl's jacket.....Hmmm things have improved there! From my window down here in the depths of the vallee, I can see the lights of a piste machine busy on the slope to 1550. They are preparing for another day. Jack's 3rd birthday yesterday, best thing that happened - seeing him stomp in to the cafe in his ski boots, helmet and goggles after a little sliding practice with daddy - WOW! We are thinking of you every day Ali. Thinking SHRINK SHRINK SHRINK. 8 to go, it is working. Sending tons of positive energy through the screen straight to you Ali.

Just to add.....from early morning mums to late night 'fat Nicks' there is someone here at the screen for you all day every day. The 'Think Shrink' team keeps going 24hrs. Cathy.

Morning Ali, Nikki here, waiting for lessons to start this Sunday morning & what an amazing day it is.
Dave has forgotten his gloves again today :-) so he will have freezing hands this morning!
We all had a pizza in the Tsaretta last night & were talking about you...your ears must have been burning whilst you were sleeping. We were all wishing you well and keeping everything crossed that the zapping is working and shrinking that tumour - go Ali!
I have loads of photos to send you and a parcel of pressies. We took loads pf photos in the Bubble when Jason was over. They should make you laugh! I'll send them back with Jeanette.
We have discovered bbci here in Meribel too, listening to it right now. It's great.
Anyhow better go, lessons to sell & all that. Miss you lots and wishing you well. Take care, love Nix x

Morning Ali,

Nikki is right - an absolutely awesome day here, such a shame to be in the office counting beans! You will be out here with us all very very soon! Sleep through the next few weeks, watch programs you wouldn't have had time to have watched, listen to iBooks that you wouldn't have had time to hear and remember that, when you've finished snoozing, you have got a warm, cozy home to come and share with me and see our friends in the beautiful mountains. Not long to go now, you're doing amazingly. I'm so proud to be your girl.

Always, J x x x

ps. I'd better get that wood ordered - you'll be building those fires again before you know it.

'PENSA RISTRETTO' is how we say it in Italian and you can beleive me, I have a whole town thinking it!
See you soon, always with you,

Hi Ali,
Still thinking about you lots, keep on sleeping & let the zappy thing get you back to full health. You'll be back out in tne snow before you know it :-)
Went skiing in the bumps with Euan and Dave today - yikes! I'm still rubbish...but it was funny.
I've been meaning to tell you about a lady who skied with us over the New Year. She is finding skiing really difficult and she's terrified but she told Faye and I that she would never give up because you told her: "never give up and one day she would get it!" She wanted you to know that she has not given up and she has booked more lessons next year. She was so sweet and I thought you might draw some strength from the fact that your clients aren't giving up because you told them not too - WOW!
That's all from me. I hope you had a good time with Cookie today.
See you soon, Nix xx

dear ali

as you ve heard already today, it s been a fantastic day, certainly the best one so far...me and martin got up around 8.00 this morning, open the curtains to discover the blue sky and loads of fresh snow...it was his first day back on the ski boots and skis.
he was a bit anxious but told him that we would be taking easy for the first few runs.but couldn t really wait and after the 'truite' down to meribel, went straight toward 'la face' which was not groomed.
were the first one on the chairlift and first tracks for us, and martin told me to stop to send a big THINK SHRINK wave from the olympic run, so it would cross the mountains fastest to reach your place. fingers crossed to have more snow when you will be back with us.
8 days to go and then it will be over.
keep positive, it s the only thing you brain needs.
see you very soon now
gaelle and martin

hey ali,
all these messages of a beautiful day! as it is! and its true, it made me think of you too! I took Carla, my wee one, sledging in St Foye! Simply magic day.
Was also thinking that when you are think shrinking, since you are sleeping lots, then a great meditation technique is to concentrate on the poorly area whilst thinking it shrinking. You could give it a go if you fancy..A great way to do this is concentrate firstly on the bit of skin right inbetween your eyes.... and then move slowly to your nose, chin (takes ages and you can only move bit by bit), shoulder, elbow, fingers etc and then to get back to your eyes you must move (in your mind) bit by bit back to your concentration point inbetween your eyes. Once you have done this...using your mind, you will almost feel like something is touching you on each bit! Then tackle the area infected and concentrate hard and long on this bit..think shirink. Its the power of meditation and the mind. I really hope this makes sense!
Anyway, thinking of you all the way..
Elaine (Seez)

How ya doin Al?
Keep on keeping on mate. Not long now... Cant wait to see you next sunday, save room for a pint with the doo-doo man!(and Rach)
Had a lovely job on yesterday, a big ash tree in a delicate spot, taken down piece by piece, except the trunk.. a huge lump of 20ft solid ash. As it hit the ground with a resounding thud guess what was underneath it? Thats right mate, we're all thinking shrinking in our own ways and the collective force is mahoosive!!

Hi Ali,

Sleep lots, I know the alps are beckoning but the wind and wintry January weather in Herts is sending loads of THINK SHRINK to you too, had a very windy walk today in good old Herts and flew a kite with Tom ( 4 yr olds ), you would have laughed as his Dad tried to hurl it upwards, whilst Tom was hanging on to the controls and as I arrived the kite went up and Tom was hanging on for dear life, skidding across the village footie pitch.......a very funny site, Tom was very impressed and kept saying, did you see me mummy !! So as we were kite flying we were sending lots of positive vibes across the Hertfordshire boarder!! Not long to go, be brave. Sally & Familie X...
P.S. You know how windy it was today, well the kiddies kite got ditched for the big boys one......poor old Tom!! Boys and their toys!

Hi Ali,
Talk about blog deprivation! As soon as John took off to see you the computer decided to wind me up by not working. Because I am techno phobic I had no chance of getting the !&%$???? working. I have missed hearing from you and all about your day. You are now part of our daily routine!
Not long now. Like everyone is saying hang in there mate and you will soon be with us. Lots of love to you and your family.

Dear Alistair,
spoke to a church lady today, (Pauline) she & others are still praying for you & we here are thinking of you and praying too.

It has rained & rained here for a few days now & has really snowed all over the southern alps. Sods law there is high avalanche risk & more rain & snow this week. Some old country people said to a mate of mine here that it would really be a winter this winter....they were right!!! You & me both are doing what me must do to try & save our lives. These pills that I take have some nasty side effcts but I am making the best choice that is open to me at the moment. It will be over for me in another 8 or so months time & then a year after that to see if the stuff has really worked permanently.
Looked over the bay at Cannes today (very near La Napoule) & eat a huge vat of fish soup. Sun was shining sea beatiful sky fantastic.... and guess what?? Managed to spend the day with my wife without a row.... I think God is helping us do what we could not do for ourselves..... Watched an american tv thing called prison break & enjoyed it but one explosive highlight when one extremely dangerous nutter who escaped on foot went into someones garage & stole a bicycle then looked round & found & helmet to wear too!!!?! all this with the sirens and dogs all around.... it probably looks a lot funnier than I'm trying to describe it here. Best wishes to you, Jeanette & all the Rainback Clan...

God bless

Steve - Cagnes sur Mer

Hello mate,
All these people talking about what a great day its been on the mountain and all I could do was look out of my windows at a bluebird day with fresh snow whilst plastering the hallway, but thats the price you have to pay for a growing family and for being hung over after a nightout round at Shiboleths place.
Only 8 to go, wow mate its flying now just like you'll be to get out here soon. We are at a comedy night at the Telemark in La Tania tomorrow night so get ready for your ears to be on fire as we will all be talking about you and "Thinking Shrink".
You take care and keep that pecker up,
